Advantage Towing

On January 3, 2020 around 8pm my vehicle was towed from 1000 West apartments in West Ashley. The address for the tow is 1000 Bonieta Harrold Dr, Charleston SC 29414. The reason for the tow was I had no parking sticker and I was parked in a reserve spot. The following day on January 4, 2020 I went to retrieve my vehicle. I asked if I could recover any items that were left in the vehicle and was denied entry due to not having paid the towing costs. When I went to retrieve my vehicle around 1:30 pm January 4, 2020, that is when I noticed the damages done to the front of my vehicle. I took pictures to document the condition it was in when I retrieved it. The tow truck driver that released it to me also took their own photos. I was told that they would have to get in contact with the owner Harold Owens to figure out what would happen next. I ended up paying $176 to get my vehicle released. I was charged a storage fee for them only possessing my vehicle for about 17 hours. I was also charged a $10 fee for processing using a credit card. A few days later I spoke with the owner Harold Owens and he told me the best he could do is provide me with $200 cash other than that there was nothing he could do. I politely declined the offer and told him that the estimate that I had done would total to $1534.82, he told me to get my lawyer to contact him and that was the last I spoke with the owner. On Friday January 10, 2020 I finally received the pictures from before the tow from the location It was towed from in 1000 West Apartments. Currently as of January 13, 2020 the owner still refuses to contact me and I have yet to find a way to contact him. All I would like to happen is the owner to own up to the damages his company has caused. The company has been giving me the run around on providing their insurance information. Since the company has pictures of what the condition of the vehicle was before they towed it, it seems like they would acknowledge that they caused the damage. Included are the before and after pictures of the damages.

I had "Tiny" come by this morning to pick up my husband's truck. I couldn't say anything else but, that he was amazing and so helpful. He helped back up my husband's truck out of my driveway since I was to nervous. He did everything I asked for and was so sweet with everything! I would highly recommend this company! They also come earlier than expected which is a huge +!!! Thank you

We were honored to participate in Westminster Presbyterian School’s “Community Helpers” lesson! A morning full of 4 year olds learning how tow truck operators are HEROS! They had great questions too... some even included crashing into volcanoes and being stuck in hot lava! 🤣

Employees of this caliber are hard to come by!!! Thank you Tiny for your continued dedication and excellent customer service to all of Advantage Towing customers!

Post & Courier - Letters to the Editor 7/30/20

Good people out there
My wife and I were involved in an auto accident July 22 on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.

We were overwhelmed by the actions and concern of everyone who came to our assistance. The response of the North Charleston Police Department, firefighters and EMS personnel was immediate and done in a professional and personal manner with obvious concern for everyone involved in the accident.

We especially want to recognize Pat McLaughlin who witnessed the accident and stayed in the heat of the day to report to the police exactly what he saw.

North Charleston police Officer Kendra Rine of the Traffic Division provided us all the information and documents we needed for our insurance company, how to obtain the release of our vehicle and to ensure proper reporting to the DMV.

She also stayed with us until our son arrived to take us home and was a comfort to for us “older folks” concerning the stress of the accident.

We also include “Tiny” Harris of Advantage Towing, who not only provided information regarding release of our vehicle but provided cold water from his cooler to combat the heat of the afternoon.

While an auto accident is a very unpleasant experience, the efforts and concern of all these people reaffirmed our belief that there are a lot of good people out there.

2nd story...

Letters to the Editor: A cautionary tale about COVID-19 for young adults One of our healthy, young adult children tested positive for COVID-19 and exhibited mild symptoms for only two days.

RIP Mr. Ellis! Advantage Towing stands with your family in sorrow. May you be soaring above the clouds in an awesome tow truck, smiling down! God Bless!

We appreciate all of the calls, texts and messages from all of our customers and friends concerning yesterday’s horrific accident on the Don Holt bridge. It was NOT one of our tow truck drivers.
However, Please take a moment out of your day to say a prayer for the tow truck driver, and his family. He has still not been located. Remember to also lift up the police officer that was also involved in the accident as he is still in critical condition. Prayers, prayers, prayers!

Smoking some meat for our employees to take home to their families! In a time like this, it’s so important that we look out for one another! Do something kind for someone today, tomorrow and every day!

To all the many phone calls and text messages we received about the tow truck procession today... A fellow tow truck operator has unexpectedly passed away. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends! RIP

However, due to the recent events with the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)... Advantage Towing would like to ensure to all of our customers that we take this matter very seriously. There is nothing more important to us than the safety of you, your children and our employees. To make sure we are as cautious as possible we have decided to implement a Social Distancing Policy. Effective immediately, unattended towing is required and payment can be made over the phone. This policy will be in effect until March 31st. Thank you for your understanding!
