This time last year I was in school for massage therapy and taking my very first practice clients. I got a wonderful opportunity to get my hours in at Tonia's Tips & Trims and now I have gotten a second location at Riverwalk Center! Becoming a massage therapist has been a life changing journey and it is a job I sincerely love showing up to every day. I got licensed in March and since then I’ve been trying to learn as much as possible to give my clients exactly what they need.

Now that I’ve got a year under my belt between practice and the real deal, I feel it’s time to get some feedback! Starting next week on 10/18 I’m going to have clients fill out a feedback form (both new & current clients). I’m hoping this form will give my clients the opportunity to be honest and open with me about what they enjoy and what I could critique a bit to make it that much more enjoyable. I want all my clients to leave and actually feel the difference in how their body functions in everyday life. I know there is always room for growth and I can’t wait to see where this journey will take me next!

With that being said, anyone who fills out one of these forms post massage will get $5.00 off because I appreciate it oh so much! ✨☮️🤍🖐🏼 #underpressure #lmt

Are you new to yoga and looking for a gentle flow class where you don't have to get up and down off the floor? Try a chair yoga class!

This class has gentle yoga poses with the aid of a chair for stability and confidence. During this time you will cultivate awareness and deep relaxation through meditation, breath work, and gentle stretches all while seated on a chair.

Join us on Thursdays at 10AM with Lorraine. No need to bring anything but yourself & some water. We have plenty of mats available!

This post was written by one of our BLOOM! graduates of the Yoga Teacher Training Program, who has gone on a path of Holistic Nutrition. It is so well-said we felt the need to post it here. Thank you Michelle Cormier for continuing your education and sharing your knowledge.

"I was introduced to both of these books during my functions of nutrition course in school. Both are completely eye opening. I’ve implemented so much of what I have learned so far into my life. I highly recommend them both.
Something I want to touch on, and feel many become confused on, is that nutrition, wellness, exercise, lifestyle + behavior change isn’t just about losing weight. Yes, weight loss can follow when implementing healthier habits into our life, but that is not the only positive that comes along with making healthier changes to your diet + lifestyle. What is wrong with someone learning, growing, changing, and trying to better themselves? What is wrong with someone wanting to be healthy, when we are surrounded by everything unhealthy? So many of our daily aches, pains, ailments, and annoyances are not normal, a few small changes could make all the difference on every level. Medicine is not the only option. Food, exercise, and lifestyle changes really can be medicine and we have the power to help ourselves.
Mental health? Did you know our brain is connected to our gut by the vagus nerve, and 70% of our immune system is located in the gut? If our gut is inflamed+unbalanced (dysbiosis), our mind won’t be either and can cause us to suffer from anxiety, depression, mood swings, irritability, digestive issues, and so much more. What we put into our bodies matters, and gut health is SO important. The standard American diet is a huge contributor to our growing chronic health condition issue, along with our more sedentary lifestyles. The SAD diet is full of refined sugars+carbohydrates, processed/packaged foods, unhealthy fats, and so much more. This type of diet can lead to issues such as obesity, diabetes, dysbiosis (more bad bugs/bacteria than good), heart disease, chronic inflammation, just to name a few, and are becoming so much more common than ever before.
I chose to study holistic nutrition because I wanted to learn more about how to be my healthiest self, and make better lifestyle+behavior choices. Not to lose weight. As I mentioned, I have implemented so much of what I have learned into my life, and I want to help others learn new ways to implement their own healthier behaviors and incorporate REAL/WHOLE foods into their life too. I’m not perfect, I don’t know everything, I’m not an expert, and I still have so much to learn, but I want to help others feel their best so they can show up for themselves and their families with the knowledge I do have. When you feel good, you look good. It shows. Others will notice. We aren’t supposed to feel like crap all of the time. Change is hard, but small changes are still change and can lead to a bigger goal with consistency and support.
So instead of judging someone for sharing about their health journey, the smoothie/meal they made, the walk they took or workout they completed and assuming it’s just another fad diet or just another attempt to lose weight, don’t. Take a moment to reflect on why it bothers you so much to see someone else making changes and working on themselves. They may be struggling with so much more than you can see, and their reasoning is none of your business. HOW they walk that journey is theirs alone to choose, and not to be judged."

Join Jill on Sundays at 10:30AM for a relaxing Yin Yang Yoga class.

Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more dynamic sequences and standing postures. Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts that describe the two relative qualities present in everything.

This class is open to all levels. No pre-registration.

There will be activities for children, food trucks and a concert from 5:30-6:30 from Mid Coast Ukes who will be playing selections from the Beatles and other oldies!
