A few days later than I hoped, but the 2022 garlic harvest started today! πŸ§„

After the catastrophic failure that garlic was for me last season, I wasn’t looking to knock it out of the park this year, but to keep it small, simple, and just achieve a successful crop at the least. But after pulling the first of these, I feel like I nailed it. Hell yeah!

This organic seed stock from The Maine Potato Lady performed exceptionally, and I am mega stoked about the sizes. I still have a section of my own saved stock to pull, Music and Chesnok Red, but even what I’ve seen from those so far is good stuff.

The tweaks and changes paid off, and now - this year I go bigger!

Garlic and shallots are looking great! Thanks!
Well I have to start off my post by saying that I absolutely love the name β€˜The Maine Potato Lady’! I love potatoes. They are my favorite vegetables, so versatile and delicious! The soil and care that goes into growing potatoes must have great care and attention along with healthy techniques. I actually just recently watched a documentary called Kiss The Ground, directed by environmental activists Josh and Rebecca Tickell. The film is all about regenerative agriculture and the many ways to help restore the planet back to vivacious paradise. The film left me feeling inspired and astonished. Kiss The Ground is readily available to watch on Netflix!
Just ordered my spring potatoes. So excited. Best selection I've ever seen.
any idea what causes a bitter very metallic taste in spuds that otherwise appear fine? happened in thankfully only one variety last year that was a complete loss of twenty pounds . trying to figure out if it was caused by my soil/fertilizers, harvest timing, bad curing, disease or..? thanks!
Hi Potato folks,
First time gardener and I overplanted the potato rows for what we really needed. But sadly, we seem to have fed an enormous vole population. Like 80% of our crop were partially eaten.

Any suggestions on how to deter these? I can't imagine planting in mesh unless just growing a few plants & I'd like to try again next year with a better plan.

Thanks.
Our seed potatoes are finally here from The Maine Potato Lady! Supply is limited (as with EVERYTHING this year) so don’t wait too long...
thank you for my spuds .so far so good.
Wow
Seed delivered early!
Are you figuring early planting this season?
Looking forward to getting into the garden!

πŸ“£ SPRING SALE - 25% all in stock potato varieties! 🌱

Last Day to order your potatoes is MAY 31st!

04/17/2021

πŸ“£ Spring has sprung! As we drive home from work, we notice all the spring flowers starting to bloom in everyone’s yards. Gives us all the itch to start playing in the dirt.

Here is a quick update on our 2021 spring season. πŸ₯”πŸŒ±

As all seed companies struggle with the huge influx of customers, we so appreciate, and love, all the new gardeners that want to grow their own food.

Please remember:
🌟 We are a pre-order company, we begin taking orders around Thanksgiving, collecting them until spring when the weather is warm enough for us to ship. Our main shipping season begins on March 29th and continues through into May until all orders are processed and the inventory is gone.
🌟 We are a small company, with a small staff. Who are working hard everyday to get as many boxes out as possible (they sure are a workforce and we appreciate them and all that they do!).
🌟 Ship dates are approximate. We ship in the sequence received to most fairly allocate the inventory.
🌟 We understand the rush to get these potatoes; please be patient!
🌟 Smile, and take a deep breath, the garden is a great place to relax and enjoy life.

A lovely picture of the Canela Russets, freshly dug and looking oh so yummy!

Thanks @brookboundhannah for gorgeous photo!
.
Posted @withregram β€’ @brookboundhannah I have a new favorite.
We have always done well with red and white potatoes, but a full sized crop of russets have eluded us. They grow and the plants are healthy, but the tubers have been small. Very small. But not this year. This collection of 5" beauties all came out of the earth in one shovel full. From one plant. I love the treasure hunt aspect of harvesting potatoes, and yesterday's supper collection did not disappoint.
For those interested these are Canela Russets from The Maine Potato Lady.
