Treasures of Faith – Abraham: Releasing What Is Precious, Pt. 2

Taking a step back before speaking requires thoughtfulness. Recognizing that my words are sometimes not just thoughtless but sinful, leads me to repentance that includes a commitment to surrender to the “guard at my mouth”, to determine if they are words that hurt or words that heal. Words have power!

The same God who saves you is the God who sustains you day after day.
You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great. -Psalm 18:35

Ministry is filled with both heartbreak and hope.
In this clip, James speaks candidly about a reality many people never see. Walking alongside those battling addiction means experiencing loss, grief, and the weight of watching people make life-altering decisions.
But it's also where some of the most powerful stories of transformation unfold.
There is nothing quite like watching someone encounter Christ, find freedom, and begin living out the purpose God has for their life. Seeing former addicts become leaders, servants, and disciple-makers is a reminder that no story is beyond redemption.
The losses are real. But so are the victories.
And sometimes one transformed life is enough to reignite the faith and hope needed to keep going.

The Help & Hope Conference exists to help equip churches and leaders to respond to addiction with truth, compassion, and Gospel-centered care.

As they let me come along on their painful journey, I am growing spiritually. Prayer takes them to the Cross, where they discover they are not alone, no matter how isolating their circumstances. There is One present who knows the cries of their soul and longs to reveal Himself in their darkness.

When life feels shaky, His grip never loosens.
I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.
- Psalm 63:8
What do you do when God asks you to trust Him before you see the outcome?
Noah built an ark based on God's promise, not on visible evidence. His story reminds us that faith means trusting God's Word even when the future is uncertain.
