Today, we honor the incredible legacy of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whose love for New York City and commitment to preserving its historic landmarks led to one of the most iconic moments in preservation history.
In the 1970s, Grand Central Terminal faced the threat of demolition, but Jackie stood up, not only for this architectural gem but for the heart of the city itself. Her efforts were pivotal in the landmark case that saved Grand Central, ensuring it would continue to inspire and serve as a symbol of New York’s rich history for generations to come.
Her advocacy for preservation went beyond just buildings—it was about protecting the soul of the city. A true visionary, Jackie’s influence lives on every time we walk through these grand halls.

Mark your calendars Grand Central Holiday Fair presented by opens in 7 days!
On October 29th and 30th from 8am-8pm, Espolòn Tequila and MET gala designer Raúl Àvila will be taking over Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal to bring New Yorkers a “Living Ofrenda” just in time for Día de los Mu***os and to celebrate Espolon’s first-ever seasonal release, Flor de Oro.
An ofrenda is an altar honoring those we've lost, typically showcasing vibrant marigold flowers. Àvila created an immersive ofrenda with 100,000 marigolds that you must experience in person.
Must be 21+ to enter.
