#stair Obsession! Such a clean line, yet incredible detail. I truly appreciate how much design and engineering go into creating these stairs. The concave curve on the riser😦 The inset glass railing 😮The fact that they’re floating in the space 😲I can’t tell if the outer wall is drapery or some carved material. Either way, the whole thing is inspiring. Not sure who did this, If you do please let me know..

I am obsessed with stairwells.
A designer's mind works on many different levels. It’s not about how beautiful one room looks; it is the cohesiveness throughout the entire home.
How do things look from multiple angles, change one thing, and it’s a domino effect.
Designer @fabrice_juan I believe, gets this concept. This stairwell with the Black and white marble foyer floor below perfectly aligned in the center of the stairs. Brilliant and Thoughtful.

Look how his 🐾 seem like he’s saying a little prayer for us. I wouldn’t put it past him. Our Bartley. Ever at our feet and on our laps these days, because dogs know. They know! They know April 1 is no joke this year. They know we’re #emotional and that it’s not just #drama. Bartley has had his share of horror movie experiences in real life, pre-rescue, and he has the forever-high anxiety to show for it. That anxiety and all that comes with it has tested us in every possible way, but throughout all he has loved us and been cute and hilarious in ways entirely unique to Bartley. We treasure this guy. So grateful he’s in our lives and that we’re all here upstate where he feels most calm. To all who know and love Mr. B, he looks forward to seeing you again soon! ❤️🐾❤️

Today a design magazine asked me to weigh in on a few of my favorite design products to use for tables. I will, and you’ll find the results here this summer. But meanwhile it made me think back to one of our past table scapes, where the best stuff was not sourced, but instead foraged! In a private dining room at Condé Nast we joined with other fun people such as Bon Appetit Magazine, Joseph Carini Carpets and Atera restaurant to create a magical foraging themed evening. The things we used on the table, for the most part were actually foraged from the woods around my house. We supplemented with other things such as saffron, black walnuts and nettles, things that are foraged in the Himalayas to make Joe Carini‘s spectacular carpets. Then the chef created dishes out of those ingredients, in part to demonstrate that Joe’s carpets are so natural they’re practically edible. Don’t you love that? This is me placing little rosemary plants at each place as a gift for the guests. We also gave them all seeds from heirloom plants that we had harvested from our own garden at flying pig acres. The more personal you make the gift, and the more alive it is, the more welcome your guests will feel. For all the fanciness of this dinner, and it was very fancy, those seeds cost nothing and yet everyone truly appreciated that gesture, because it was something you can’t buy. We had a great time. Ok, it’s a parable for little kids, but we like the spirit of it - the chopped down cherry tree as a truth-telling object lesson. We love our cherry trees at Flying Pig Acres, and occasionally when bringing in some blooming branches in spring, or fruitful ones in summer, the young George Washington story will cross my mind. So quaint. So antiquated. Such pablum. But still. Especially now, don’t we yearn for even a fairy tale story of a President who who cannot tell a lie. 🍒 🍒🍒
