If you love the Ella Rae Eco Organic Cotton, you’ll love this! Knitting Fever has released eight new variegated colorways that you can use by themselves or mixed with their solid options! 

They’ve been separated out into a separate line called Eco Organic Cotton Hand Paints, but the base, weight, and yardage are identical to the solid colorways with 273 yards of sport weight 100% organic cotton per 100g ball.

Hand painted colors can look a little different on cottons from how they show on wools, owing to the inherent differences in cellular structure between plant and animal fibers. On cotton yarns, these colors tend to be softer and can resemble watercolor paints on canvas, which make for beautiful and unique finished pieces for all your warm weather and/or hypoallergenic needs.

Hand dyed in the classic Uneek self-striping colorways, this yarn is machine washable, DK weight, and made of 100% mercerized cotton with 275 yards per 100 g skein. It’s just right to stitch into a garment that won’t weigh you down in the sun while working up quickly!

The self-striping colors mean you don’t have to cut and weave in more ends (unless you want to 😆), and all the colors in each skein have been carefully chosen by the dyers to complement each other. You can also work a self-striping skein with a solid for even more fun color effects! We have the Monokrom Cotton available if you want to stick to the same material base, but you can play around with whatever you like.

Calling all purple lovers for April’s beautiful Color of the Month! Dusty lavender and lilac shades make up the body of this month’s colorway, artfully streaked with springtime orange and sage green and decorated by pips of lemony yellow, rich red-tinted browns, and deep sapphire blues. This yarn would make for a beautiful sweater, but you can always go for a shawl or smaller accessory if that’s what you love to make!

Our spring/summer class schedule is out! We’ll be offering our usual adult beginner classes for knitting, crochet, and needlepoint as well as some project based courses. Most classes will be a single 2-hour session and range in cost from $75-80 per person. The Needlepoint Sampler class is our only two session class and costs $125 per person.

You must be 13 or older and vaccinated to sign up for our adult classes. Vaccinated children between the ages of 8-12 can sign up for the Kids Learn to Knit or Kids Learn to Needlepoint class with a vaccinated adult. Masks must be worn for the entire duration of the class. 

You can find the full class information packet under the ‘Events and Classes’ section of our website. You can register in person or over the phone at 212-320-7266. Please have your proof of vaccination (CDC card or NYS Excelsior Pass) ready to present or email at the time of registration.

We’re having a trunk show with Kim Dyes Yarn! Kim is a Virginia based indie dyer who’s been coming out with beautifully dyed yarns since 2010. We’re super excited to be hosting her yarns and we know you’ll love them too!

The show will run from Saturday April 2nd to Sunday April 10, and we’ll have the following bases available:

Ever wanted to learn how to do bead crochet? Well, now’s your chance! Dana and Berti of @welldoneexperience will be teaching a special class at Annie and Co for their Confetti Chain Necklace on Wednesday, April 13 from 5-7 PM. It’s a great beginner project that will teach you the basics of bead crochet. 

To sign up for the class, you’ll need to know how to work the chain stitch and purchase one of the Confetti Chain Necklace kits, which comes with beads, thread, a crochet hook, and written instructions all wrapped up in a handy pouch that unfolds into a portable beading station! The kit is $75 plus tax. You can register in person at the store or over the phone at 212-360-7266.

Our usual class safety requirements will apply: you must present proof of covid-19 vaccination (in the form of your CDC issued card or the NYS Excelsior Pass) at registration, either in person or by email. We must receive your proof before the class date. Masks must also be worn for the entire duration you are in the store and in the class and cover both your nose and mouth.
