Viennese Opera Ball

Last week, the Viennese Opera Ball celebrated the Kickoff of the 70th Anniversary Ball with festive pre-holiday cheers at the beautiful home of the Gala Chair Jean Shafiroff, Style & Philanthropy. We are grateful to our generous host Jean who underwrote the beautiful event ✨🙏🏼 with stunning performances by opera singers Brandon Cedel and Elizabeth Sutphen, and delicious Austrian wine from Domäne Wachau. NYS Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright awarded Citations to both Jean Shafiroff and the Viennese Opera Ball for their long-time commitment to and celebration of the vital cultural and economic Austrian-American relations and their exemplary work in philanthropy.

For seven decades, the Viennese Opera Ball has brought the elegance, history, and grandeur of Vienna to New York City. As one of the last remaining white-tie galas in the United States, the Ball celebrates Austrian cultural heritage through music, dance, and the timeless debutante opening performance. Founded by Austrian immigrants in 1955, it has become a landmark event that honors Austrian-American friendship and serves as a vibrant bridge between our two cultures.

Today, the Ball continues its mission to preserve Austrian traditions in New York, strengthen cultural and economic ties between Austria and the United States, and support meaningful charitable causes. As we celebrate our 70th Anniversary, we invite you to join us for a magical evening where tradition, artistry, and elegance waltz through time—A MAGICAL NIGHT.
