FIRE OVER HEAVEN: Four new releases from our concert archive on the Fire Over Heaven Bandcamp page today!

Sets by violinist Laura Ortman, ace improvisers Mette Rasmussen & Nate Wooley, Persian santour player Sahba Sizdahkhani and a double helping of David First’s microtonal juggernaut, The Western Enisphere, all freshly mixed and accompanied by new art.

These releases are landing just in time for Bandcamp Friday on May 7th, which will also see the second instalment of our Benefit Tracks series, featuring two exclusive tracks from longtime friend and former resident of Outpost Artists Resources, Eartheater . Entitled “Safely Contemplating a Temple Piercing”, Eartheater has generously donated all proceeds from these tracks to support Fire Over Heaven’s experimental music programming at our home, Outpost Artists Resources.

We’ve got lots more projects in the works in the digital realm and hope to be bringing live performances back to Outpost soon, and you can help us do all that by purchasing some of this exceptional music from our Bandcamp page. Stay tuned for more!

Alanna Murray:
“I’ve been contending with my own mortality daily, I imagine most feel this way. Anything I read or watch feels menacing, which ultimately keeps me awake until 5 AM, paranoid of my existence’s past/present/future. Delusion of Eternity is a semi-auto generated confrontation of this experience, of the indifferent void. For this experimental short, the text was either picked from auto-translated video subtitles or my own thoughts that elicited demented doom. Enjoy.”

My Husband:
My Husband (b. 2015) is the pseudonym and collective practice of Annika Berry & Eliza Doyle. My Husband’s works are a series of slippages between author and subject, embodying both the protagonist and the other. He/we produce videos, texts, and lecture-performances in classroom/professional/art settings. My Husband is an expert in Survivalism, knows what urgency is, and incites the production of knowledge through a process of ongoing desire, projection, pleading, and responding.

Saradibiza:

Saradibiza is a self-taught CGI artist.
After classical studies at the Beaux Arts in Paris, it is through drawing, painting, and photography that Sara developed her passion for technical learning serving creative purpose. Few years of experimentation, an attraction for software, and a fascination for digital, made her start a period of deep learning to enter the world of computer generated imagery and the freedom it promises.

HIrad Sab: Hirad Sab is an Iranian-American artist whose work explores the margins of digital aesthetics, internet culture, and technology. His amalgams occupy a precarious intersection of culture and the democratic nature of image circulation; an aesthetic trend that expands and mutates rapidly.

It will stream on the Outpost vimeo channel Sunday December 13th, 7pm EST. The live stream and Q&A will be archived and available to view on demand for two weeks starting Wednesday December 16th.

Cuts And Burns Presents: TOON PUNX

We're pleased to announce our Cuts And Burns Online Screening Series!
In light of Covid-19, and the non-plausibility of safely carrying out our Cuts and Burns residency program, we have decided to adapt by pivoting to an online screening series. Our Cuts and Burns Online Screening Series aims to foster a sense of community and congregation through screening four collections of curated video work. Each screening will be followed by a Q&A section, where we will be able to engage with the artists as well as the audience.

Our first screening, TOON PUNX is curated by Sean Capone and will stream on Sunday Oct 25th, at 7pm through the Outpost Vimeo channel, followed by a Q&A at 8pm.

With our concert series at Outpost Artist Resources suspended because of covid-19, we’ve decided to begin releasing recordings from the 80+ plus shows in the Fire Over Heaven archive on Bandcamp.

We’re launching the site with a batch of incredible sets from the trio of Ka Baird, Daniel Carter & Chris Corsano, Horse Lords’ Owen Gardner, Patrick Holmes, Anaïs Maviel, John McCowen, Charmaine Lee & Zach Rowden, Samara Lubelski & Bill Nace, Yitian Yan & Chi Hsun Wang and Ryan Sawyer.

The full slate will goes live today, Friday October 2nd (one of a monthly series of first Fridays when the good people at Bandcamp will be waiving their fees), and we’ll be adding a new batch of sets each month.

A truly eclectic mix of things, in many cases with fresh mixes and artwork from series organizer Che Chen (of 75 Dollar Bill), this music will be available for streaming on the site, as well as for download with a small donation. All the funds generated will go towards expanding the archive, paying artists fees, commissioning new recordings and hopefully before too long, producing concerts again! We'll also be offering a deep discount when you purchase the full catalog of recordings, so please consider adding some great music to your collection and supporting this vital project.

Update from Che Chen, Rick Brown aka 75 Dollar Bill about today's release on Bandcamp https://75dollarbill.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-cafe-oto.
"Bandcamp Friday is well under way and here's a very heartfelt thanks to everyone that's already come out to support us and other independent artists on this platform today, last month, before and beyond. We've released a new digital album today, three sets of music we played as a trio with our dear friend and long time collaborator, Andrew Lafkas on double bass. This epic day/night of music took place at the locus of London's creative music scene, the wonderful (and like so many of our favorite venues, now financially imperiled) Cafe OTO. As others have already mentioned, many things about promoting a release feel inappropriate or even downright uncouth right now, but given the overwhelming response we got to _Live at Tubby's_, we've decided to take this as an opportunity to raise and direct some funds towards the people that have been putting themselves on the line to dismantle systemic racism and fix our broken criminal justice system. We will be don ating %100 of today's proceeds (until midnight tonight) to a few soon-to-be-determined organizations working for racial justice and progressive social change. We'd really like to donate to smaller, local organizations that may not be getting as much attention at the moment and to whom a donation of this (admittedly modest) size might make a significant difference."
