Shamil started CrossFit 6 years ago in Toronto. He was immediately hooked, and especially loved the technical challenges of learning the Olympic lifts and gymnastics - which kept him coming back. He loves coaching others through these challenging movements and watching them accomplish things they didn’t think they were capable of doing.
He enjoys starting his day working out with the morning crew at the crack of dawn. His favorite workout is Diane and anything with a lot of gymnastics.
Outside of the gym, Shamil works as a product designer. He’s Canadian, grew up in South Africa and has since lived in London, Toronto, Vancouver, SF and now NYC.

Mike 🦅
Originally from Philadelphia, Mike moved to New York almost 10 years ago. He was always interested in fitness but didn’t find his passion for health and fitness until 2017 when his roommate at the time sent him a Groupon for three intro classes to CrossFit. He’s been hooked ever since!
Mike enjoys the ability to show up every day with a set workout to focus on, the community CrossFit builds, and the personal training each class brings. He works full time in recruitment however has always been interested in coaching. When Virtuosity was looking for new coaches he jumped at the opportunity immediately.
Mike lives with his wife Annie and their two cats Birdie and Bogey. When he isn’t at the gym he enjoys running, cooking, and traveling. He is currently in process of obtaining his CF level 1 certification.
If in doubt, dance it out. Who else needs a lifting partner 🐶

On July 4th, come celebrate local CrossFit legend Jacinto Bonilla who turns 83 years old on the 3rd (and still CrossFitting strong!) We’ll have one special ginormo-class at 9am to complete his signature workout “The Jacinto STORM!!!”
We’re keeping this members-only since we just have one class. Save your visitors for our next event (or they’re always welcome at any Free Intro or Foundations class!)

🏳️🌈 PRIDE WORKOUT! 🏳️🌈
This Saturday at 10am, come out and join us for a fun, fabulous Pride workout to benefit The Trevor Project. All Levels are welcome, and feel free to invite friends and family along! This class is free (won't use any of your membership sessions), and the suggested donation is $30 (please venmo to prior to class.)
On Mondays, we wear a vest. 😂

We'll be doing our annual Memorial Day "Murph" followed by a social at Talea! There will be classes at 9am and 10:30am; all other classes will be cancelled on Monday.
**What's The Workout?**
If you've never done Murph you're in for a treat! The workout is --
For Time:
• 1 Mile Run
• 100 Pull-Ups
• 200 Push-Ups
• 300 Squats
• 1 Mile Run
Partition the pull-ups, push-ups, and squats as needed. Start and finish with a mile run. If you've got a twenty pound vest or body armor, wear it.
Scaling options will be provided as always, and smart scaling is encouraged!! It shouldn't take longer than an hour 🥵
