Former mayoral candidate, New Port Richey. daisyfornpr.com

06/03/2026

I want to publicly thank Assistant City Manager Rob Williamson and City Clerk Judy Meyers for their quick response to concerns I raised during last night's city council meeting at The City of New Port Richey, FL - City Hall, directly following the 2026-2027 Strategic Plan work session.

During Vox Pop, I noted that the City's 2025-2026 Strategic Plan, which was referenced in the meeting materials, was not publicly available on the website. This morning I received confirmation that the document has now been published, and after checking, it is available as of June 3.

I spoke on concerns about AI governance, public transparency, data retention policies, and the need for public input before AI systems are formally embedded into city operations. Whether people agree with my specific recommendations or not, these are conversations municipalities across the country are having, and I appreciate that City leadership was willing to engage respectfully on the topic.

Following our discussion after the meeting, I also pointed out that portions of the CRA website appear outdated and do not provide residents with clear information about active, proposed, or completed projects. Rob promptly connected me with Economic Development Director Dave Gammon to continue that conversation.

Good governance is not about never making mistakes. It is about being responsive when issues are identified. Last night's discussion and this morning's follow-up demonstrated exactly that.

Thank you to everyone involved for taking these concerns seriously and for working to make public information more accessible to residents. It is a process, but it is progress.

Does anyone know why the City Council live stream isn’t active?

04/21/2026

Big night for New Port Richey tonight. Mayor Chopper Davis will be sworn in, council will choose a new deputy mayor, and the city begins its next chapter.

I won’t be able to attend, but I will be listening to the meeting, and I am still waiting on answers to the process and procedural questions I raised about the Claude Pepper Senior Center eviction.

March 18 was the date residents were told to look toward, and there are still serious unanswered questions about what happened, who was notified, what process was followed, what alternatives are being considered, and how the people who rely on that space are being treated.

I have heard the same rumors many others have heard, including concerns that the center’s current users may simply be moved elsewhere rather than meaningfully served. Rumors are exactly why clear public answers matter.

This is not about attacking anyone. It is about public trust. When a public facility, vulnerable residents, and city process intersect, the community deserves clarity.

Congratulations again to Mayor Davis. I meant what I said on election night: elections end, but civic responsibility does not.

If you still have yard signs that need to be picked up, plz send me a DM!

The results are in, and I want to offer my sincere congratulations to Mayor Chopper Davis on his victory, and to Marlowe Jones and Kelly Mothershead Timmons for running strong, clean races. New Port Richey is better for having had this conversation.

1,490 of our neighbors voted. In the last mayoral election, that number was 1,247. That’s a nearly 20% increase and that growth matters. It means more people were paying attention, more people were engaged, and more people chose to show up for New Port Richey. I’m proud to have been part of a race that people felt was worth their time and attention.

Thank you to everyone who made calls, knocked doors, donated, delivered signs, put a sign in your yard, window, or golfcart, for volunteering your time, talents, and treasure.
Thank you to everyone who came to a forum, who asked hard questions, and who voted, and most importantly thank you to my family.

Tomorrow, April 14, is Election Day.

I’ve lived in this town long enough to remember when downtown felt like it was holding its breath. I’ve sat in council chambers, library board meetings, and environmental committee sessions. I wrote the proposal that helped bring Sos1922Ghs Schwettman into public hands. I drafted language that made its way into the New Port Richey Public Library’s comprehensive plan. I organized. I showed up. I stayed.

I did not run because I have nothing else to do. I ran because I’ve spent years doing the work from the outside, and I know what is possible from the inside.

My husband has performed on the Richey Suncoast Theatre stage this community built together. My kids are growing up on these streets, with this river, in this particular and irreplaceable place. We are not passing through. This is home.

The people who built this city and the people who will inherit it both told me it’s time.

If you’re a New Port Richey voter, polls are open tomorrow from 7am to 7pm at the New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center, 6630 Van Buren Street.

Come find me at my table, then go cast your vote.

I’m honored to have the support of former Mayor Rob Marlowe.

We share a background in tech, which brings a certain way of looking at systems, problem solving, and how decisions actually play out over time. That perspective matters in local government more than people often realize.

He understands both the responsibility of this role and the importance of getting the details right.

I’m very grateful for his support and for his service to New Port Richey.

Former New Port Richey Mayor Rob Marlowe has endorsed our campaign.

His support reflects what this campaign has been about from the start: steady leadership, real follow-through, and a focus on the work that actually moves the city forward.

Grateful to have him with us.

I’m truly grateful to have the support of former Mayor Scott McPherson.

He stepped into this role and served our city as mayor, and he understands what it asks of you, both in the big decisions and in the day to day responsibility to residents.

His support means a lot to me, especially coming from someone who has carried that weight.

Thank you, Scott, for your trust and for your continued care for New Port Richey.

Scott McPherson, former Mayor of New Port Richey, has endorsed our campaign.

“I’m pleased to formally endorse Daisy Thomas’ candidacy for Mayor of New Port Richey. I believe we need fresh voices in leadership, and I’m impressed by her experience, vision, and commitment to bringing people together. Her willingness to listen, seek compromise, and address the city’s challenges with depth—not just talking points—stands out as a beneficial strength as well.”

Grateful for the trust. Depth over talking points has been the work from day one. Let’s keep going.
