It was an honor to help kick off the Renova Chamber Orchestra at the Magnificat Chapel at Villa Maria! The group performed local Composer Judy Bruce’s newest number “The Awakening Dawn”! Founded in 2012, under the leadership of renowned Music Director Joshua Zona, the festival brings together pre-professional musicians from around the country to perform in Lawrence County! There will be three more performances, June 11 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, June 12 at Stone Castle Abbey and June 13 back at Magnificat Chapel at Villa Maria!

I had an opportunity to attend the Barons game and opening ceremony tribute to Sammy “The Bull” Trivilino at Flaherty Field! Mayor Mark Elisco gave a passionate speech recognizing his contributions to baseball and the City of New Castle!

I was happy to join with local officials at the Grand Opening of the new Pickleball Court in Croton! Justin Umbs, Director of Picketball Operations at Acent Pickleball gave an enlightened demonstration of the game! Thank you to the New Castle Police Department P.L.A.Y. Program for constructing this beautiful facility in our Community!

I was happy to participate in LIFE Lawrence County’s 15th Anniversary serving seniors in our community! The organization helps local seniors maintain their independence and manage their healthcare from home!

I was pleased to join with a delegation of 18 County Commissioners with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission to visit Senate and House Leadership including Senate Leaders Joe Pittman and Jay Costa to promote issues important to Lawrence County and Western Pennsylvania! I also had an opportunity to visit with DCED Secretary Rick Siger! All ten counties in the SPC were represented in Harrisburg!

Day 2 in Harrisburg started with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC) hosting a breakfast meeting with Senators and Representatives of the 10 Counties of Southeastern Pennsylvania in which Lawrence County is a member to discuss the issues important to our region!

I was pleased to return Harrisburg to promote Lawrence County at Allegheny Conference on Community Development! I was joined by Forward Lawrence’s Max Frederick. I also had a chance to visit with two of my former House Colleagues, Secretary of Transportation Mike Carroll and Allegheny Conference Chief Growth Officer Matt Smith!

41 years ago today, I witnessed the damage from the tornado that struck Beaver and Mercer Counties! Congressman Joe Kolter and Senator Arlen Specter visited the shopping center that was destroyed in Beaver County! It was total devastation!

Happy “63rd” Birthday to Lisa Whelchel aka Blair Warner on the classic 80’s classic series “Facts of Life”!

The Ellwood City Chamber and Forward Lawrence hosted a joint event to highlight the Koehler Brewing Company in Ellwood City! Owners Bruce and Bryan Koehler has continued to expand the brand and the company will be opening a 48,000 Square foot manufacturing and distribution facility on Mahoning Avenue in the City of New Castle in 2026! I wish them the best as they grow their business and thank them for their commitment to Lawrence County!
