Effective immediately, the Nampa Public Library is no longer placing returned items in quarantine. The goal for re-shelving items is within 24 business hours, though usually they are re-shelved within 2-3 business hours. Because they will still need to check in previously quarantined items, some of those items may generate overdue or even Lost notices. As soon as the items are checked in, those blocks and any charges associated with them will be automatically removed.

PRESS RELEASE: The Nampa Public Library is pleased to announce they will safely reopen the library building and welcome patrons in beginning Monday, March 15, 2021.

On Feb. 9, the Nampa Public Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved the Library Director’s recommendation to open the library to patrons starting Monday, March 15.

Nampa Library Director Claire Connley said, “I would like to thank our staff and our community for their understanding and support as we have navigated the challenges related to COVID-19. We are happy at this time to be opening for patrons to browse the collection and will maintain all safety protocols.”

The library will continue to maintain a flexible, responsive approach to library services. The holds pickup window is a permanent service and will remain an amenity for those not wishing to enter the building to pick up their holds.

In the next few weeks, the library will be hiring and training new employees to bring staffing levels up to normal in order to provide excellent customer service to returning patrons.

Library hours beginning March 15 will be:
Monday-Thursday, 12 p.m.-6 p.m.
Friday-Saturday, 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
The holds pickup window will be open Monday thru Saturday and the permanent hours will be 12 p.m. -5 p.m.

All library staff will be wearing facial coverings and anyone entering the building is highly encouraged to wear facial coverings over the nose and mouth as well. The library will provide masks for those who do not have one. Patrons are also asked to maintain a minimum of six (6) feet distance from others.

Meeting rooms will remain closed and technology will be minimal, though a limited number of public computers will be available.
Grab your ticket and come aboard the Nampa Public Library’s newest Virtual Murder Mystery: Last Stop, Murder on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

Each patron will be given a role to play as they travel from Paris to Istanbul, but watch out: one of them is a murderer! Gather clues, uncover hidden agendas, and work together to deduce who has done the gruesome deed.

It’s like being a detective in your own mystery novel, and everyone is a suspect. Enjoy the glamour of the Old Orient Express from the convenience and comfort of your own home in this virtual whodunnit.

NEWS RELEASE: Nampa Public Library closes to public in response to Idaho rolling back to Stage 2

The Nampa Public Library will be closing to the public on Monday, November 16, in response to Governor Little rolling back to a modified Stage 2 and limiting gatherings to 10 people or less.

Patrons can still place library items on hold from their account (nampalibrary.org/catalog) and pick them up at the permanent holds pickup window, located on 3rd St. S. next to the outdoor book return. The hours for this service are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Monday-Thursday) and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday and Saturday).

If you have questions or need help placing items on hold, please call our “Ask a Librarian” line at 208-468-4474 to speak with a librarian.

The Nampa Public Library will continue to monitor COVID-19 public health updates and provide community updates via our website (nampalibrary.org/coronavirus) and social media channels. The health and safety of our staff and the community is our highest priority at this unprecedented time.

The Friends of the Nampa Public Library enhances your library visit in many ways. We have purchased books and media for the collection, and funded online programs, as well as prizes for summer reading, and rewards for youth volunteers. We invite all who love the library to join our group! We welcome new members and look forward to getting to know you. It’s easy to join the Friends, with annual membership dues of $10 for those under age 18 or over age 65; $15 for an individual; $20 for a family; $50 for a patron and $100 for a business or sustaining member. (If you are on a budget, you can volunteer in place of some of that cost.) Membership packets and committee sign-ups are available. The Board of the Friends group meets monthly. ! You can help the Friends help the Nampa Public Library in many ways: 1. Purchasing used books or media donated to the Friends’ bookstore 2. Purchasing used books and media via the Friends’ online bookstore 3. Donations of used books 4. Volunteer to contribute your time when it is convenient for you – we have many options 5. Your cash contributions Purchasing books? You can support the Friends by buying books in our new store or online. We believe that our bookstore is the best deal in town. Check it out. If you’re a reader, you will probably be delighted! Donations of books? You can donate books by bringing them to the Friends of the Library Bookstore during our hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12-4, and 1st Saturday of the Month 12-4. Or, if you have lots of books, call or email us and we will come get them for you. What do the Friends do with donated books? We sell them in our new Friends of the Library Bookstore located in the lobby, online, at the Nampa Seniors’ Center each month, and at other locations. Income from these sales helps the Friends support our library. Volunteer: The Friends of the Nampa Public Library offer many opportunities for volunteering. Get to know new people who share your interest in books and in the library. We are a welcoming group and always look forward to new Friends volunteers!
