New Baby Blue Eyed Bunny
I am so in love with my new little Blue Eyed White Mini Lop Bunny! She does still need a name. Suggestions?

OH, SO MANY EGGS! The hens are doing a fantastic job of laying beautiful eggs this Spring! This picture is a sampling of the eggs that are gathered daily around the farm. (It's like Easter, early, around here with the daily hunt for the free range hen's eggs, lol.)
I have several dozen eggs available for sale. They are $2 a dozen or $3 an 18 pack. Each carton will vary in color and may not look exactly like the sample picture of eggs but are of the same, great quality. Unless you request older eggs for boiling (easier to peel) the eggs will be from the current week's gathering. Eggs are NOT washed so that they will keep longer. Just let me know and feel free to ask if you have more questions.
I just completely loaded the dehydrator with chopped, fresh, young garlic tops. Smelling good! They will be so good the rest of the year in breads, spreads, soups and more!
The New Kid
The New Kid
THE NEW KID!

Hey, everyone! I'm D***y, one of Granny Annie's beloved Boxers! Maybe you can help me figure something out. Granny Annie sleeps on a straw mattress because it helps her arthritis a lot. But yesterday, a mouse got into the straw in her mattress. I knew right away that I had to save Granny Annie from that mouse, so I went right into action! I did such a good job, too, getting that mouse out of her mattress. But, when she came back to go to bed, she got mad! Why did Granny Annie get mad??? I'm sure she didn't want that ole mouse in her bed. I don't understand. What did I do wrong? I mean.... I had to open the mattress up to get the mouse out, right?

Granny Annie's Farm is coming back!
As some of you know, I had combined my farm with another farm. I am now looking for that 'just right' piece of land, moving all my farm stuff to it, and I will once again be just Granny Annie's Farm. I have a few good possibilities in site, so hopefully it will be soon.
I hope you will stay tuned and follow my journey as I begin my farm, once again, from the ground up.
The story of how I lost the property/home for Granny Annie's Farm over a year ago will continue until I finish writing it, but at the moment, it will have to take a temporary back seat while I locate yet another piece of property, secure it, and move one more time.
Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful Sunday!

David and I went for a walk in the woods behind the house yesterday (was going just be a short walk) to get a few things that were back there that we wanted to load on the trailer. I grabbed a few bags to stuff in my pocket because over the years, I have learned to always take "gathering bags" with you when you go walking in the woods, 'just in case' you come across some great wild find. This is what we ended up coming back with! Somehow, we managed to carry them all back in one trip. Now we need to go back and get what we went back for, lol.
(These are wild Oyster Mushrooms. . . very yummy (gourmet) and packed full of nutrients and healing benefits)

What a BLESSING! Had to take time out from my current routine of daily packing & sorting to pick and put up some mushrooms. We had an explosion of them come up just after this last rain. They are Ringless Honey Mushrooms, and oh, so yummy!

We found a good flush of Oyster Mushrooms this week! All are now dehydrated and ready for winter spaghetti sauce and stews! Soooo yummy! ! !

Good grief! ALL of my posts have vanished! Where did they go?
I am so sad. My 2-year old Rouen duck disappeared out of his pen yesterday evening. :( His 3 chicken buddies are still there, but he is gone. The pen is all hardware cloth, laid over a cattle panel frame (used to be for owls). I didn't think there was a way out of there. But the top is 2x4 wire tarped over, so I am afraid something slipped in, up under and in that way. I already miss our quacky yaks as I cook my dinner over the fire in the evenings. Hard to believe that with all the animals on a farm, you can truly miss the noise from just one that goes missing. He wasn't just a duck, he was a pet, one of the family. And we had just gotten him 3 new duck friends, baby Khaki Campbells. Going to have to cinch the pens up even tighter this week.

Eastern Red Bud: Pea Pods Tree | Eat The Weeds and other things, too
I absolutely LOVE using the Redbud flowers in salads and nibbling them right off of the tree. I do wish their season was much, much longer! I also love the young leaves in salads. I was going to try stir frying the young pods this year, like snow peas, but I missed them while they were young and tender. They are beginning to get a brown tinge on the pods now, so I think I am going to try some of the young beans in some soup.
I love that the Red Bud tree (in the pea family) has so many edible parts! Hoping to get an entire "patch" of them planted as a food crop before the year is up. They seem to start producing pretty well in less than 5 years from sprouting, with very minimal care. Now THAT is a food plant for me to grow!

SUNDAY AFTERNOON AT GRANNY ANNIE'S FARM - Waves of rumbling thunder storms with the scrumptious aroma of crisp Spring rain, a snack of homemade egg salad & crackers from farm fresh eggs, a big cup of hot coffee, knitting with the new ball of bamboo/cotton yarn I am trying out, while catching up on the crime scene shows now that my computer is finally moderately working again.
Now, to keep from dozing off. Those thunder rumbles are very lulling!

I have been hard at work gathering, cleaning and bundling WILD Green Onions. For those of you in my local area, I have fresh Wild Green Onions available for 50¢ a bundle. If someone wanted them all, I would make you a great deal! (there are more than what you see in this picture, I am still cleaning and bundling).
These have such a wonderful flavor! I am eating them right now, chopped up in my mashed potatoes.

I just love fresh, Spring wild salads! I call this one my Mid Spring Salad. It has all the best of the early Spring wild edibles along with the mid Spring wild edibles, where the two "seasons" meet - LOADED with wonderful nutrients! To round it off, the center is filled with chopped wild hog that was simmered in well water (refreshed with the spring rains) with a handful of fresh, young spring garlic tossed in.
You don't have to wait for the gardens to start producing to make a yummy healthy Spring salad!
THOSE PESKY NEIGHBORS just aren't going to quit! Last 2 nights have been very noisy and stressful as they teased and tormented my dogs relentlessly. . . . . . hiding in the bushes antagonizing them, making weird noises at them, (all after dark so I can't get video of them, but audio still works), . . . . and best of all, BARKING AT MY DOGS!!! That cracks me up! I can't imagine anyone in their right mind wanting to act like a dog, standing there barking. They must have a very boring life.
I had a friend over and he just could not believe how these people were acting, lol I missed working at the flea market today to stay home and keep my dogs safe.
Then there has been an increase in the 4-wheeler running up and down the road. Aren't those things illegal on the roads anyway? Oh, so noisy and dusty!!!
Awww.... the quiet of the country . . . . NOT
