The Murray Symphony is a vibrant community group comprised of approximately 75 musicians, bringing together generations of talent ranging from performers in their 20s all the way to their 70s! Some of our musicians have years of refined performance experience, while others play purely for the love of it. But together, those perspectives create something far greater than any one of us alone. One thing we all have in common is that we love performing for our community.

The grand finale of Scheherazade explodes onto the stage in a whirlwind of danger, adventure, and intrigue reimagined as the thrilling tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. From the first electrifying notes, the music pulses with urgency as the cunning thieves race through a vibrant marketplace, their secrets teetering on the edge of discovery.
Tension builds with every moment. Will Ali Baba outsmart them, or will the thieves close in? The orchestra surges with breathtaking intensity, driving toward a heart-pounding climax as chaos erupts and fate hangs in the balance. Just when it seems all is lost, the sea rises in a powerful, cinematic sweep, crashing in a spectacular finish that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
And then… stillness. The solo violin of Scheherazade returns one final time: graceful, triumphant, and full of mystery, bringing this unforgettable journey to a breathtaking close.
Don’t miss this dazzling fusion of music and storytelling where legendary adventure, sweeping orchestration, and stunning ballet come together for a finale you’ll never forget.
Experience it all tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. General admission $15. Kids 10 and under are free. www.murraysymphony.org

The third movement of Scheherazade is a lush, romantic contrast to the drama and adventure of the surrounding movements.
Instead of danger or suspense, this movement paints a picture of tender love and graceful courtly life. A flowing, lyrical melody passed between strings and woodwinds represents the young prince and princess, suggesting innocence, beauty, and a deep emotional connection. The music feels almost like a gentle dance, with a sense of elegance and calm that evokes a palace garden or a quiet moment between the two lovers.
The recurring solo violin, representing Scheherazade, weaves in and out, reminding us that this serene love story is still part of her grand tapestry of tales.
Overall, the third movement offers a dreamy, heartfelt interlude rich with warmth, intimacy, and sweeping romance before the excitement of the final movement returns.
Stay tuned for next week as we unveil the thrilling final chapter of Scheherazade’s tale. And don’t miss your chance to experience it live by grabbing your tickets now! At only $15 they are going fast! www.murraysymphony.org
