Two systems drift apart the moment they stop being updated simultaneously.

Sample tracking lives in one system. Test results live somewhere else. The records may start aligned, but eventually become unreconciled.

The reconciliation work compounds slowly enough that nobody notices until an audit or study review forces the issue.

It's unlikely your organization just wakes up one morning with a data problem. It's more likely you've inherited one gradually.

๐—ช๐—ฒ'๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—›๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด!

We're looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team at Freezerworks.

Youโ€™ll work directly with lab and biobank IT teams on deployments, troubleshooting, and support for our sample management platform, including a major new release.

Itโ€™s a hands-on role for someone who understands infrastructure, likes solving customer problems, and wants to work closely with the product. The samples our customers manage support research that changes lives, so getting the details right matters.

One of the biggest misconceptions in laboratory operations is that standardization means everyone has to work the same way.

It doesn't.

Thatโ€™s often where governance conversations get stuck before they really start.

True standardization isn't about forcing every research group into one workflow. It's about creating consistency where it mattersโ€”and flexibility where it doesn't.

One group may collect samples differently than another. Another may organize freezer layouts or accessioning workflows differently.

Thatโ€™s expected.

What shouldnโ€™t change is the foundation underneath:

โ€ข A consistent audit trail
โ€ข Clear chain of custody
โ€ข A reliable data model

In the multi-group biobanks we work with, this distinction is clearest during an audit. Different workflows can still support one consistent compliance story when theyโ€™re built on shared governance.

The labs that scale successfully donโ€™t standardize every process.

They standardize the infrastructure that supports those processes.

Whatโ€™s worked best for your team in balancing governance and flexibility?

The easiest software migrations usually begin long before anyone starts migrating data.

They start with preparation.

The labs that have the smoothest transitions into Freezerworks 2 usually have three things figured out before the first migration conversation.

1๏ธโƒฃ They know where they stand with Customer Care, so everyone understands the upgrade path.

2๏ธโƒฃ Theyโ€™ve taken an honest look at their existing data.

Migration brings your records forward exactly as they exist today. Cleaning up duplicate entries, inconsistent fields, or outdated locations beforehand is far easier than fixing them afterward.

3๏ธโƒฃ Theyโ€™ve decided how theyโ€™ll validate the new environment.

Those steps donโ€™t take long.

But they make the upgrade conversation much more productive.

If your lab has already completed a major software migration, what preparation made the biggest difference?

Every biobank eventually becomes an archive.

The shift usually doesnโ€™t happen on a calendar. It happens quietly, when the same samples start coming back under retired P*s and closed protocols.

They were stored for todayโ€™s research. Then, somewhere between year five and year fifteen, they became the raw material for questions no one had thought of yet.

That changes what infrastructure has to do.

A system built for active collection assumes the researcher, the study, and the context are still available.
An archive assumes none of them are.

Every sample question has to be answerable from the record itself.
Not memory.
Not a hallway filing cabinet.
Not the person who built the study and left in 2018.

The biobanks that make this transition well tend to make three early decisions: they treat the audit trail as the primary record, they preserve field-level context, and they choose infrastructure built to outlast current staff.

At what point does a biobank stop being a collection and become an archive?

The visual freezer solves a problem that seems small โ€” until a new coordinator has to work without it.

An inventory list can tell you a sample is in Freezer 3, Rack B, Box 7, Position 42.

Technically complete.

But thatโ€™s not how people think about a freezer.

Visual Freezers shows the layout the way your team actually uses it: racks in position, boxes in racks, occupied spots at a glance, and attention flags where they matter.

Thatโ€™s why onboarding gets easier fast.

A coordinator using an inventory list has to build spatial intuition from scratch. A coordinator using Visual Freezer sees the structure immediately.

Software shouldnโ€™t force people into a new way of thinking.

It should mirror how experienced lab teams already work.

Thatโ€™s where the Visual Freezer makes the biggest difference. See the Visual Freezer in the product tour.

For many laboratories, it's planning season.

Budgets, timelines, implementation plans.

Whether the focus is equipment, staffing, software, or workflow, the next few months often shape the year ahead.

Before the planning cycle gets busy:

Whatโ€™s the one operational improvement your team wants to make before year-end?

08/21/2026

Every experienced lab professional has heard this question:

โ€œ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜†?โ€

Because the system says one thing, and the technician knows the real answer lives in shared know-how.

Thatโ€™s not an interface problem.

Itโ€™s a documentation problem.

The fastest onboarding happens when the system becomes the source of truth.

No guesswork.
No memory test.
No extra steps.

Just the answer where people expect it.

Whatโ€™s one piece of shared know-how your team has turned into a documented process?

08/14/2026

Every sample management evaluation eventually reaches the same question.

โ“ Is the system creating the problem or has the team simply learned to work around it?

There's usually one moment when the answer becomes obvious.

What was that moment for ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถ?
