Get ready, it's coming..Snowmageddon. We will be accepting Emergency calls only this weekend. If you have uninsulated areas around your pipes, leave your faucets to drip. Also, leaving cabinets open to help with warmer airflow can be helpful. KNOW WHERE YOUR WATER MAIN VALVE IS! NOW. Not when the pipe breaks. This can save you THOUSANDS to limit the amount of water moving in the house if something DOES happen.
If you're without heat or end up with a busted pipe, call us 540-830-8903.
Enjoy your milk sandwiches.

This morning, at 07:40 AM, multiple units were dispatched to a structure fire off Augusta Farms Rd.
Chief 7 and Engine 111 arrived on scene to find a small fire coming from a dryer in the back of the residence. Battalion Chief 11, Company 10, Company 11, Stuarts Draft Volunteer Fire Company, and Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad worked on scene to extinguish the fire and remove the dryer and burnt contents from the residence. Due to all agencies' quick response, the fire was contained before it could spread through the home. There were no injuries.
Pictured in this post is the damage caused by the dryer for educational purposes. Dryer fires are more common than many realize and can cause significant damage in just minutes. Remember to clean the lint filter before every load, check and clean the dryer vent regularly, and avoid running the dryer when youβre not home. These small steps can greatly reduce the risk of a dryer fire.

Wednesday Home Wellness:
If you're in your sourdough era, don't put your starter down your drain! It can clump up and clog your pipes!
Wipe out your starter jars, stirring utensils, and bowls. Then soak in hot water to dissolve everything - no clumps!
Tuesday Tip: if you have well water (like a lot of us do around here) you'll likely need to drain your water heater to remove sediment once a year or so - also - if you have hard water build up on your shower head or faucets, you can fill a ziplock bag with vinegar and tie it, making sure the faucet or shower head is submerged and it will remove the build up.

Don't be this person - drywall is a DIY, but definitely an acquired skill. Call us! We are happy to quote out planned projects and respond to emergency repair calls as well!
Tuesday Tip - Make sure you know where your water shut off is in your house! Cutting off the main water supply is often the first step in preventing more damage in an emergency leak situation.
