We are all looking forward to welcoming a new year focused on a positive and healthy future. However, we pause for a moment of reflection to thank our community, our generous donors and our volunteers that have enabled us to continue our Welcome Home Veterans (501c3) mission at Richard's Coffee Shop.
Since we reopened in April 2021, we’ve proudly served nearly 3,500 military veterans—and this number is just for our “Free Coffee For Veterans on Thursdays!” We also continue to “welcome home” new military veterans as they visit our coffee shop and sign our Book of Honor which has thousands and thousands of signatures!
It is hard to put into words how much we appreciate the support, partnerships, recognition and donations we’ve received from our community. We extend a sincere appreciation to those who organized fundraising events like Bryan and Kate Kennedy-Holliday for their 12th annual Tee Off For A Veteran golf tournament and their continued mission to support veteran-related organizations around Lake Norman. And, we were honored once again with the recognition from the Town of Mooresville NC for their spectacular Veterans Day parade--the patriotism exuding from those lining the streets was palpable! We salute Lowe's Home Improvement and Purple Heart Homes for our majestic new American flag and flag pole AND for their VERY generous donation that will enable us to replace our HVAC system!
Because of this community’s support and generosity, we’ve been able to continue to fulfill our mission to help local military veterans and their family members who are in desperate need of assistance. The assistance we provide is tailored to each veteran depending on their unique situation and need.
As we near the end of 2021, we also pause to recognize our fellow brothers and sisters that have passed this year as we keep their family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
On behalf of all the veterans at Richard’s Coffee Shop, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our community. We appreciate you and are incredibly grateful for your support. We hope you continue to join us for coffee and camaraderie in 2022!
