🌟 Celebrating 70 Years! Seventy years is a long time for any company to last — and a rarer thing still to do it well. What started on June 1, 1956, as Southern Duo-Fast in Birmingham, AL — founded by Bill Rue Sr. and B.R. Albright — has grown into a regional powerhouse serving over 15 states across the Southeast and beyond. Three generations of the Rue family have guided FSI from humble Alabama roots to a trusted name in power fastening and industrial packaging across the region. Seventy years of growth, innovation, and dedication — none of it possible without the trust and loyalty of our customers. Here's to making Year 71 the best one yet! 🎉

Today we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom. We are grateful. On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember them and extend our deepest respect to the families who carry their legacy forward.
Introducing our new line of deck screws called Torotwist. The Torotwist brand of screws distinguishes itself from other brands as a high-quality, budget friendly fastener. Our products are crafted with superior materials, using the latest cutting-edge technology, thus providing high performance that allows you to build with confidence.
Torotwist screws not only offer cost savings compared to most other brands, but our line of screws also excels in durability and superior performance, delivering consistent results you can count on job after job. Engineered to meet the needs of commercial builders, Torotwist screws feature a T-25 (Star) drive with 6 points of contact to help eliminate stripping, a reinforced neck which eliminates “snap offs”, a type 17 point to eliminate the need to predrill holes and thus eliminating splitting, a “nibbed” head which firmly sets the screw into the wood, and finally Torotwist screws have been 1000 salt-spray tested, so they are strong and durable.
They're strong like a bull, and that's no BS.
So, if you build with Torotwist screws you get unmatched ease of use, durability, reliability and economic feasibility for all your construction projects. If you want to make your work count, and you want to make your work last, then trust your project to Torotwist!

Three times annually FSI holds corporate Town Hall events where our senior leadership takes time to talk to all our Associates across our eight-state footprint about current events and things going on that affect the organization.
After the Q&A session is complete, our President and CEO, Will Rue, has the honor of announcing the latest recipient of our "SCRAPPY Award". As the acronym points out, our corporate motto of "Get SCRAPPY" is about our Associates having the mindset of when the going gets tough, the tough get going, when the chips are down, you don't give up, instead fight harder because they are resilient and resourceful, and because they have a determined spirit and true grit.
Our recipient today was Chris Rawls, a longtime warehouse associate in our Montgomery Corporate facility. Chris is truly deserving of being called SCRAPPY.
Chris always approaches every task with a can-do attitude. As sure as night follows day, Chris can always be counted on, and you should never count him out, no matter how difficult the task or the obstacles put in his way. He comes in early, and he stays late, whatever the job calls for, he just gets the job done without fail.
Chris leads by example, and he doesn't work by talking about problems or with complaints, instead he offers ideas and solutions, creating a positive work environment built on teamwork and respect.
Congratulations to Chris Rawls, FSI's July 2025 SCRAPPY award winner!

Our Associates are the heart of everything we do—we deeply value their dedication, talent, and hard work. So, on July 9th, FSI proudly provided catered meals to all our Associates across eight (8) states and seventeen (17) branch locations! The "FEEDBACK" or message we wanted to pass along was, "We sincerely appreciate all you do, so THANK YOU!!"
A special shout out to Uncle Mick's Cajun Market & Cafe in Prattville, AL, and also to Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Corporate Catering for helping bring it all together!

Recently, FSI's Montgomery warehouse embarked on a significant first phase of a project to upgrade our facilities. This Phase 1 is quite comprehensive and will significantly increase our warehousing capacity, as well as improving the efficiency and flow of inbound and outbound shipments.
First off, we’re installing a brand-new loading dock that will be able to stage up to six trucks at the same time. This is a game-changer for us and will significantly streamline our operations. Additionally, we’re relocating our inbound receiving operation to better accommodate the increased capacity. This move is crucial as it will help us handle a larger volume of shipments efficiently.
We’re also giving the front driveway a complete overhaul to better facilitate traffic flow. This upgrade will complement the new location of our larger docks and ensure that everything runs smoothly.
As part of our 10-year growth plan, all the current construction is being done with future expansion in mind. The new dock’s location was strategically chosen to allow for an additional 35,000 square feet of storage space, which can be constructed without compromising our productivity and the flow of products in and out of the facility while doing it.
These upgrades are incredibly exciting and are set to propel us forward in our growth plans!

Recently, FSI was extremely proud to be able to make a donation to Cheering on Children's, a Birmingham, Alabama based, 501(c)3, non-profit organization.
Shown in this photo are Neil Chase, Regional Sales Manager for Fastening Solutions, Inc., presenting a check to Addison Shoemaker, Founder of Cheering on Children's.
Addison's journey began when as a young child, she was admitted to Children's Hospital for treatment of a rare but potentially life-threatening post-operative event called Post Obstructive Pulmonary Edema. Surviving this experience with the help of the great doctors, nurses, and staff at Children's Hospital later on in life inspired Addison to form a charity to support and advocate for the needs of hospitalized children and their families who are going through similar circumstances.
Addison's story is a testament to what can be achieved with passion and perseverance, and FSI is thrilled to be able to play a small part in supporting Addison's vision.
