We make custom live rock for marine, reef, brackish and even freshwater aquariums. We stepped away for a few years, but we're back now - bigger than ever!

Live Rock is essential in Marine, or Saltwater, Aquariums because it enables the natural Bio-filtration which is common in the Marine/Reef Aquarium. JD's Custom AquaScape Designs custom Live Rock and decor for aquariums. Whether you are looking for the perfect layout for your aquarium, or you are searching for that perfect Rock to bring it all together, you've come to the right place. If you have any questions, or would like to purchase/order, don't hesitate to call.

If you are interested, I do still have Live Rock available and I will continue to make it. I will also accept custom orders. If you are looking for Live Rock, please message me or comment on this post. We will work together, with your budget and design needs, to create your custom aquascape.

Thank you everyone for your support and patronage over this endeavor. I started making Live Rock so I could use it in my aquarium, and kept making it because people liked it as an alternative to paying nearly $8 per pound for the designs they wanted...
I will be stepping back from this, and will not be posting much. I have started a new career, one which I love and it is an extension of a hobby which I enjoy very much. I am in a Carpenter's Apprenticeship program and I am very excited about the work that I am doing, and I am looking forward to the opportunities this will bring.
I also am expanding my depth in my hobby of woodworking. I have been trying a lot of new things and really growing as a woodworker. I have started a page for that - If you are interested in woodworking, either as a beginner or more advanced - or if you just want to check out ideas and photos of projects, Please Like and share...

Again, thank you for everything over the past year and a half. It has been a lot of fun and I wish you all the best.
I will still be able to do custom orders, and most likely always have some rock in the holding tank ready to sell. Let me know.

25 pieces.... about 100 pounds +/-. Standard shapes but also working on some new ideas. Stay tuned for pics when finished, just an idea of a day in the life. This is 2 batches, 2 days work.
Keep looking for more work updates as well as the new holding pond which will be built soon :)

A basic rough draft of the beginning plans for the new outside curing tank/pond which I will begin building soon. An upcoming order will require a large curing tank (for A LOT of rock) and this will be perfect. This tank will be at least 6-8 feet long and 4-6 feet wide and 24-36 inches deep.
Very excited for the"mystery order" (I will reveal the details when finalized) and this is one thing that will help to make it easier.
I will post the details of how I build this tank/pond, as well as the details of the "Mystery Order" in the near future.

While getting the Rock together earlier today for "Aquariums and Ponds by Namado" - I took a moment to appreciate the work that I have done. Everything for this retailer was made to simulate nature, and so I just make my nature-like creations. And I will say, I am often impressed with how things end up.
There were also a few caves that went with this order that amazed me how they turned up.
A big shout out to Anthony and his team at Namado's, I am always impressed more and more every time I stop by. The store looks amazing and all of the tankmates look happy and healthy!!

Also be sure to stay tuned for new product updates including the tank-mounted display shelf as well as new rock variations.
Also some big news regarding a Large Scale reef order coming soon.
Also if you have pics of JDs Custom AquaScape, please share.

Hello all....
Sorry for the lack of posting, I shall continue again. The reason I have been ''offline'' was due to health 'problems'. I am still recovering from surgery, but will be more and more active as the new year approaches.
I have several new announcements, projects, ideas, how-to's, and much more coming, so be sure to stay tuned.
I will give you a sample...
I am still working on this, but here is a ''rough draft'' - ''Live [Air] Rock"
I know these are terrible shots, but you get the idea. - I like the look of bubbles, and I know they are sometimes frowned upon in saltwater setups (which is funny because you use air/bubbles to create suction for protein skimmers and many other devices)... anyways. I wanted to create a 'Bubbler' that serves a purpose and has a reason to be included. Hence this creation.
Using bubbles, or an air pump and tubing, you can create a suction by managing the flow rate of the air, creating bigger/smaller bubbles for more/less flow/suction. This is how the ''sponge filters'' operate.
So in the same sense, the air will cause a suction - pulling water into and through the 'Live air Rock' causing the look I want, but more importantly - Forcing the Biological filtration that we get from the Live Rock.
As I said, I am still improving this but I wanted to give you a little something to look forward to....

This tank has been setup and running about 7 months now. Rocks started white and are really looking good.
Always remember to properly clean everything when doing your regular water change/maintenance. You want to make sure that any powerheads or circulation pumps are clean - meaning that the impellar system is not obstructed. Also any filter inlet/outlets. And any excessive algae that may be growing on the glass or on heaters and other surfaces. It's better to clean it regularly, rather than wait until it's too thick/heavy to be removed safely.
And it is always a relief to see things more clearly after a fresh cleaning.
That's it for now, but check back again for more helpful tips and information. Enjoy your weekend.

For anyone who is llooking for bulbs.... Petco in Monroeville is selling ZooMed bulbs for cheap. 48'',36'' for $5 and 24'',18'',12'' only $4. I went earlier today and got 5 bulbs for $23. Not bad, considering they would otherwise be well over $80. They had about 10 bulbs left in various sizes. Hope this helps someone.
