Consider respectfully discarding your dirty, damaged or worn flags this Memorial Day.

Our Police Department accepts United States (U.S.) flags that are soiled, torn, worn and otherwise not able to be displayed. Flags should be delivered in a square or triangle fold. We deliver the flags to local area Veterans of Foreign War and/or American Legions. The flags are then given to local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other local area programs to be destroyed in a dignified manner. Flags may be brought to Monroe Municipal Court’s temporary location at 769 Village Way, Mon.- Fri., 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

3 Things I Learned After Ruthlessly Decluttering My House from 2000sq ft to 400 sq ft 🏡✨ (part 4)

1️⃣Some Things Aren’t Worth Selling: Sure, you might make a few dollars selling small items, but the time spent taking photos, answering messages, and managing listings isn’t worth the energy drain. Focus on selling larger items or bundle smaller ones together. For the rest, donate to a local charity and save yourself the headache! 💸🤝

2️⃣Use the Things You’re Saving for a Special Day: That fancy bottle of wine you’ve been moving from house to house? We finally opened ours, and it was so worth it! 🍷✨ Using those ‘special occasion’ items brings more joy than saving them for someday. Whether it’s wine, special dishes, or even gift wrap—just use it!

3️⃣You Don’t Need More Storage Space, You Need Less Stuff: Too much stuff ends up shoved in closets and forgotten. If it’s crammed into the back of a closet and you forgot it was there, do you really need it? Simplify your life by reducing items and creating space for what truly matters. 🧺❌

Remember, decluttering is a process—take it step by step. It won’t be done in a day, but each day brings you closer to a serene, simple, and clean space! ✨

She decluttered down to a 400sf home but these concepts apply to any size project. Do you agree with these?

Decanting can be a great tool for streamlining your everyday activities.

A few rules of thumb to follow in deciding if decanting makes sense

1 - Will it decrease potential mess? (I’m looking at you, paper bags of flour and sugar!)
2 - Will it make it easier to use?
3 - Will it make it easier to store?
4 - Does it’s original container take up space inefficiently?

Decanting allows you to put floppy bags into rigid containers that stay where you put them, maximize the space on wire shelving and creates a unity in appearance that makes everything easier to find.

Examples of perfect foods for decanting - flour, sugar, rice, any grains, small bags of similar items (leave in the bags and group in a single container).

In this picture I am all set up with every ingredient I need from the pantry to make cookies. Decanting can simplify your routine, make cleanup a breeze and help you see what you have in stock easily.

Decluttering and donating to youth sports. What a GREAT combo!

If you’re clearing out your closets, consider donating to the Snohomish High girls soccer team Sunday, August 25th from 12-3 at the Snohomish Les Schwab.
