When outdoor temperatures drop significantly, so does the pressure in your tires. When it’s hot outside, warmer air molecules in the tire move around faster and bump into each other more, raising the tire pressure to a potentially overinflated level. When the temperature drops, the air molecules slow down and stick together, resulting in a drop in air pressure and a potentially underinflated tire.
Many tire manufacturers, such as Firestone and Goodyear, estimate that tires lose one psi for every 10 degrees the outside temperature drops. If your car has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, the warning light will be triggered by at least a 25 percent drop in tire pressure.

TIRE ENGINEERING
Before air was used in tires, they were covered by leather, wood, iron, or solid rubber. They weren’t very shock absorbent, but they had some grip to them and they were very durable! It took a number of years for tires to progress to the way we see them today.
TIRE PRESSURE CHECK REMINDER
- Check your tires “cold” – before you've driven or at least three hours after you've driven.
- DO NOT utilize the psi on your tire’s sidewall. Look for tire pressure in your manufacturer's recommendation, which is printed on a label inside your car. or in owner’s manual.
Both underinflation and overinflation can cause premature treadwear and possible tire failure. The best way to ensure you're getting the most out of your tires is to check your tire pressure on a monthly basis.

DYNAMIC DESIGN
The Dakar concept tire is a student-designed tire concept that claimed first place in the Hankook Tyre Design Challenge organized by Korean tire manufacturer Hankook.
The Dakar concept tire, as its name suggests, is intended for use in endurance races like the Dakar Rally.
When driving on road, the hexagonal blocks snuggle up against each other, making for a smooth tread with minimal rolling resistance. When the vehicle goes off road however, the blocks spread apart to create a much knobbier tread with improved traction.
If any of the blocks gets punctured or otherwise damaged, it can be quickly replaced without having to replace the entire tire.

WE LOVE TIRES
Safety, efficiency, performance, traction. They’re black, they’re round, and you probably don’t think too much about them. Tires, a love/hate relationship. When you experience that quiet, comfortable ride, we love them. But when we are stranded, we hate them... such is life.
