What a full circle moment running the Modesto Marathon course again and completing the 13.1-mile half marathon!
In 2010, I started running these streets as a student in the Teens Run Modesto program. Now, I had the chance to be out here covering it for ABC10 and that same program just minutes before the race began.
One of the most special moments was seeing the mentors from my middle and high school years who helped spark my love for running in the first place 🙌
Grateful for the miles, the memories, and the community that keeps showing up year after year ❤️
2026 MODESTO MARATHON: Just minutes before running the half marathon myself, we went live on ABC10 highlighting the Modesto Marathon and the Teens Run Modesto program it supports.
The program helps train local middle and high school students to complete the full or half marathon. I spoke with Jymena Nguyen, a six-year participant and Davis High senior, about her experience.
It’s especially meaningful to me because I was part of the same program for six years growing up, and it helped spark my love for running.
MODESTO MARATHON WEEKEND: Thousands of runners will be gathering in Downtown Modesto for the 2026 Modesto Marathon. Proceeds from the race benefit the Teens Run Modesto program, helping locals teens train to run a full or half marathon. ABC10

TWIN RIVERS TEACHERS STRIKE: Teachers in the Twin Rivers Unified School District (TRUSD) went on strike Thursday morning after more than a year of ongoing contract negotiations without a new agreement.
The roughly 1,500 teachers represented by the Twin Rivers Unified Educators (TRUE) picketed outside their respective schools starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, before making their way to the district office in McClellan Park, where an 11 a.m. rally took place. ABC10

KAISER WORKERS STRIKE: Tens of thousands of nurses and health care workers with Kaiser Permanente went on strike Monday morning at hundreds of clinics and hospitals across California and Hawaii, including the Kaiser Permanente Roseville Medical Center.
The union representing employees says the strike is over unfair labor practices and concerns about patient care and staffing, while Kaiser Permanente says the dispute centers on wages and contract negotiations. ABC10
