I think one of the hardest things about being deeply hurt by someone is realizing that even after they leave, they still live in your mind.
You replay the conversations. The betrayal. The confusion. The version of them you thought existed.
And eventually you get tired. Not just of them, but of carrying them.
This piece is about the kind of forgiveness that isn’t reconciliation. It’s the moment you realize you don’t even need them to understand what they did anymore. You just want peace. Distance. Freedom from the emotional attachment.
“Not because I understand what you’ve done, but because I wish to never meet you again in front of God.”
I think a lot of people who’ve experienced heartbreak, betrayal, trauma, or emotionally complicated relationships understand this feeling more than they want to admit.
