Custom owl rice packs with organic lavender heading to North Carolina. The customer trusted me to recreate rice packs her family has used. The color scheme mimics her original ones. The yellow is quite striking against the purple quatrefoil print.

First Quilt of 2026 is done! It is a signature retirement quilt for Maricel. The top of the quilt is white quilters weight cotton and allows individuals to write their best wishes for the retiree. I included a photo of my favorite pens for writing on fabric.

Here is a quilt journey…My sister provided an inspiration quilt for reference for me to make for my baby nephew. I tracked down the quilt only to find there was no pattern. The artist just used half square triangles (HST) to create it. This led to watching way too many videos. Then I sat down drew the pattern out. Look at the amazing color palette tied to a main ocean print which will be featured on the front and be the backing. Since I had a half yard of each print, I decided on 9 inches squares. I tested out some techniques from the video only to discover I made four teal and white triangle combination, but alas it was only used once. This was a good lesson in that I would need to cut each triangle and then sew the smaller triangles together then sew to the larger triangle and then cut down to 8.25 inch square. Due to the number of directional prints I needed to cut each triangle to fit the alignment of the block. As I made the first two bottom rows I thought the navy was too dark, but as the pattern built it became more balanced. I used warm and natural cotton batting. I quilted around each square and on the diagonal through each. My sister asked for extra wide binding. I used four inch wide pieces to accommodate. I choose a Robert Kaufman solid cotton that matched the ocean print perfectly. Since she washes quilts often I sewed extra lines in my binding to help it hold up but looks ascetically pleasing.

I was honored to use fabric from New Zealand to make the first four table runners, from the customer’s birthplace. The last three were made using vintage fabric from the customer’s Mom. 7 table runners as Christmas gifts for Kathryn’s family. What a wonderful way to connect the past with present.

Finished the Pineberry quilt for Mary in Modesto, CA. The pattern is by Pen and Paper Patterns. I ordered the fabric this summer, in fall I cut all the pieces and started sewing the blocks. In winter I quilted it. It will make a stunning Christmas gift for her niece.
