Just finished reading an excellent article about Ossip Zadkine’s painfully beautiful memorial sculpture, The Destroyed City, in Rotterdam. This is why we create.

Working on some drawings for my kiddos. Going to give them these so they can color them in.

Spent a couple hours refining the pose today. Grateful for an excellent reference by Roberto Osti, 'Basic Human Anatomy: An Essential Visual Guide for Artists'.

New concept for a sculpture. Will have to flesh this one out later. But I'm glad I got the gesture out and on paper, the idea has been burning around in my brain for a while.

Grateful to have an opportunity to get into the studio this evening. Added some more detail and adjusted the pose slightly. It's inching closer to my vision. Excited to finish this one up soon.

Designed and crafted this hanging shelf this weekend. The shelves are adjustable depending on how many you want and how much separation you need between.

Was inspired by this morning's homily at Mars Hill Church (www.pomh.org) especially by the words of YHWH to His people. The beauty of His choice to be with us in the midst of our desert seasons as symbolized by the burning bush in Horeb (translated: "desolation"). Along with the oft repeated promise, "I will be with you" spoken directly to the patriarchs Jacob/Israel (Genesis 28:15), Moses (Exodus 3:12), Joshua/Yeshua (Joshua 1:5). My heart is comforted by Emmanuel's words over me.
My own heart is afraid to lean into His embrace. I live in a broken world; with daily reminders of trust betrayed. I have been dropped. My body tenses with the fear of falling. My heart wants to be held, yet I am hesitant to allow myself to rest in another's arms because I know all too well the pain of being let go. My soul longs to find the love that will not let me go. And I am beginning to find that much needed rest in the strong embrace of my faithful Father.

I had my consultation with Carol at The Empire Tattoo Company in Foley, AL today. Really looking forward to my first session this Spring. Carol is a super talented artist and she was able to design a beautiful composition based on the ideas we came up with. Sounds like it'll take a couple sessions to complete, but it will be worth the wait.

Was able to get some work done last night on my current commission. This piece has been in progress for quite some time now. The concept has evolved over the course of it's creation. Currently have the rough gesture nailed down. Will be working out the final pose and adding detail as I continue to refine.
Had a chance to sit down with one of my coworkers, Mason’s Woodworks, recently and was impressed with his "hobby". I don't know about you, but his work is incredibly professional if you ask me. I'm looking forward to seeing his work at the next local marketplace. But in the meantime, check out his beautiful woodworking designs online.
