🐷 REMINDER TO ALL OF HUMAN KIND - we all put our pants on the same way, one leg at a time, and to keep that in mind when people think they were better.

More money doesn’t make you a better person!! No one, and I mean no one, is better than anyone else, and my heart is sad for those who think they are. No matter how big your house is, how new your car is, or how much money sits in your bank account, we all bleed red and will eventually fade from this earth. Death has no discrimination, and neither should your life.

Be kind to others. We are all here to serve. Your oversized ego or your title won’t get you anywhere. Always be humble and kind!

Very few will read this far, but if you’re genuine, I challenge you to share this message.

🔦 Unshackled Spotlight 🔦

The first photo is me: Clifton Red Feather, back in recovery. I strayed from my spiritual journey and ended back on that darkness. I ended up getting arrested did 8 months in county jail, then sent to SD State penitentiary for another 7 months. It took being locked up to regain my life and sobriety. The desire to regain my life is greater this time around. For me falling is part of recovery, I learned again from my mistake. God had mercy on me, after a spiritual tune up. I dusted myself off, and accepted it now I'm back on my spiritual horse. The second photo is me today, clean, sober & crime free. I give a Wopila Tanka for those who believed in me and who are supporting me today.

Strengthening Our Community, One Act at a Time!

At MSDR AlterNatives, we are proud to serve as a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to providing vital mental health support, addiction recovery, and community assistance right here in Mitchell, South Dakota. Our mission is built on the belief that everyone deserves a helping hand, and our services are always 100% free—our only request is that you "pay it forward" whenever you are able.

Reflecting on "Dignity of Earth and Sky"

Co-Vice President of MSDR AlterNatives takes a moment to appreciate the incredible history and culture of the Lakota and Dakota people here in South Dakota.

Shayne Figland is standing in the presence of the "Dignity of Earth and Sky" sculpture is South Dakota.

You can see this breathtaking 50-foot stainless steel monument that overlooks the Missouri River near Chamberlain SD. Created by artist Dale Claude Lamphere, this statue depicts an Indigenous woman in traditional Plains-style dress, gracefully holding a star quilt.

The star quilt is a deeply symbolic element in Native cultures; it represents honor, respect, and admiration. When a child is born, they are wrapped in a star quilt to welcome them from the stars, and it is given to honor significant accomplishments throughout a person’s life.

The statue is more than just a beautiful work of art—it stands as an enduring symbol of courage, perseverance, and wisdom, reminding us that all are sacred and in a sacred place.
