A coalition of river lovers working to conserve MTโs rivers and way of life ๐ #wildandscenicrivers Clean water and healthy rivers drive our economy.
It is no exaggeration to call rivers the lifeblood of Montana. They provide us with drinking water, irrigation water, water for industry, and boundless recreational opportunities. The history of Montana is the history of its rivers, and so will be its future. Rivers also are at the heart of Montanaโs outdoor way of life. Our river corridors support a rich community of fish, birds and wildlife, mor

โWestern Montanaโs rivers shape our communities and way of life.โ
Thatโs exactly why weโre working to protect them.
Thank you, Representative Zinke, for introducing the GYREAT Act and helping advance a locally driven effort to safeguard nearly 100 miles of the Madison and Gallatin Rivers for future generations.
This National Rivers Month, weโre inviting Montanans to add their voices in support of healthy rivers and help us carry those voices back to Washington, D.C.
Already shared your endorsement? Thank you! If not, we'd love to hear why Montana's rivers matter to you.

๐ฃ Happy National Go Fishing Day!
Whether you're casting a line, floating a river, hiking a trail, or simply enjoying Montana's outdoors, a Conservation License is required for most outdoor recreation in Montana... and for good reason.
Conservation Licenses help support the stewardship of the fish, wildlife, water, and public lands that make Montana such a special place to live, work, and recreate.
As you enjoy your favorite river or outdoor space this season, remember that conservation is a shared responsibility. Healthy rivers don't happen by accident.

In continuing our celebration of , we share more meaningful voices of support for our beloved rivers.
Thank you again to everyone who spoke up for Montanaโs rivers - your voices matter.
This weekend marks four years since the start of the historic Yellowstone River floods of 2022.
The event was a powerful reminder that rivers are dynamic systems - not just blue lines on a map.
As our climate continues to change and weather extremes become more common, river resilience may be one of the most important values a free-flowing river provides.
Through meaningful protections like Wild & Scenic designation, we can help conserve the natural processes that allow rivers to adapt and recover. Healthy floodplains, connected river corridors, and intact riparian areas help build resilience before the next high-water event arrives.
Because floods are not a question of if but when.
And the lessons of 2022 remind us that protecting free-flowing rivers today helps prepare Montanaโs watersheds for tomorrow.
