The MDAH 2022 Spring Teachers Workshop, April 22-23, 2022, is a partnership with National History Day and is a two-day workshop with a $250 travel stipend.
This two-day workshop in April 2022, hosted by National History Day director of programs Lynne O’Hara, will introduce teachers to Library of Congress’ Guide to Student Research and Historical Argumentation. The guide’s strategies include choosing and analyzing primary sources, constructing a thesis, and synthesizing research into a project. In addition, attendees will be given time to explore the Two Mississippi Museums during the workshop and a peek at the 2023 NHD theme, Frontiers in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences. The Great Migration Summer Teacher Institute, July 18-22, 2022, is a partnership with the Mississippi Museum of Art and is a five-day workshop with a $500 stipend for Mississippi teachers.

The application deadline for the Great Migration Summer Teacher Institute is Monday, February 28! Offered by Mississippi Department of Archives & History and Mississippi Museum of Art, this week-long institute in July 2022 will engage teachers in the exploration of the Great Migration-related special exhibitions and time period, as well as ideas about public memory, self-determination, and resilience.

The Right Question Institute is offering a fall version of its online course, Teaching Students to Ask Their Own Primary Source Questions, and is looking for more participants. One of our participants took the course last spring and am is now helping to facilitate the course and would love to se emore Mississippi teachers represented.
The registration deadline is October 19. The course runs from October 26 to November 23. Participants will learn how to navigate the Library of Congress's online resources, how to teach their students to ask questions using the Question Formulation Technique, and how to teach with primary sources.
