Last but certainly not least is our Outreach Coordinator, Jacob Linebarger! Jacob is Professional Meteorology major from Murfreesboro, TN. Jacob is going into his junior year.

“NMC has given me a family at MSU. I will never forget the feeling when I found out I was going to be a counselor for the first time! This organization has brought me out of my comfort zone and given me some lifelong friends!
The people in the organization are so authentic and encouraging. It is one of the reasons I call MSU home! I do NMC because I love Mississippi State and I want incoming students to know MSU is their home! Camp really gives you a sense of family and community which has impacted me and so many other people! It’s why I love this organization so much!”

Fun fact about Jacob: His house was hit by a tornado when I was 5 years old!

Next is our marketing coordinator, Sophie Whitehead! Sophie is a junior Secondary English Education major from Ocean Springs, MS!

“New Maroon Camp is truly a home away from home for me! I never thought I could love Mississippi State more than I already did until I was a freshman at New Maroon Camp🤍. This organization gave me my best friends and chosen family and I could never give a fraction back of what New Maroon Camp gave to me.”

Introducing our programming coordinator, Zamarion Bender! Zamarion is a junior Interior Design major with a minor in marketing from Newton, MS.

“New Maroon Camp is what made MSU feel like home for me. Ever since the first night of opening ceremonies in
2022 | knew this is where I belong. Never knew there was a place where I could feel 100% myself around so many people. However, NMC is where I found that place! NMC is a service that I am so honored to be apart of.
This organization has given me some of my best friends and multiple opportunities. I owe it all to NMC and is so happy that I get to give back to the place that has given me so much. I love you NMC!!“

Fun fact: Zamarion took piano lessons for 6 years but can’t remember a single song now! 🎹🎹🎹

Our next Camp after Camp event is gonna be SPOOOOOKY! Come to the Junction on October 28th for a special Halloweentown Movie Night! The fun starts at 6 PM! Our friends from 28 will be there!!! We can’t wait to see you there! 👻🎃💜

Next is our amazing Assistant Director of Communications, Laurel Belden! Laurel is from Marietta, GA! She is a junior Marketing and Supply Chain Logistics major.

“NMC to me is somewhere I have found a second family. Moving here from Georgia was a huge adjustment, but through New Maroon Camp I was able to to make Mississippi State a home. From when I applied for staff my freshmen year my goal has remained the same, to give back to the community that shaped me into the person I am today. My wish is to serve all of the staff and incoming students in order for them to be able to experience the same things I cherish so much!”

Also Laurel’s Fun Fact: She has broken both her arms!

Next up is our wonderful Assistant Director of Logistics, Ally Dobson. Ally is a junior Elementary Education major from Ocean Springs, MS!

“New Maroon Camp is family. Every single person regardless of if you we are a camper or on staff, makes NMC what it is. Through this organization, I have witnessed firsthand how small acts of support and encouragement can create ripples of change in the lives of others. Being able to witness that change firsthand is something I will forever be grateful for! Coming into college I knew I wanted to be involved and find my people. NMC gave me exponentially more than I could have ever asked for. I can never fully articulate everything that camp means to me, but I keep coming back because of the love that existed from every facet of this organization. I am beyond ecstatic to give back to something that is such a huge piece of my heart!”

Introducing our Director, Tanner Payne! Tanner is a junior Software Engineering major from Tylertown, MS!

“Since my first day as a camper in 2022, I’ve watched thousands of lives change because of New Maroon Camp, including my own. NMC offers such a unique opportunity for incoming freshmen to foster relationships that will last a lifetime, and I’ll forever be thankful for the impact it’s had on me. Being able to serve the organization that gave so much to me is something I’ll be eternally grateful for.”
