Aundrea Self, a veteran broadcast journalist for the Golden Triangle, is signing off the airwaves in December and joining MSU’s College of Business to be the new director of outreach and engagement.
“Becoming a Bulldog was my destiny. I grew up in Starkville; I married an MSU graduate; I became an adjunct instructor, so this new role makes me an official cowbell-ringing member of the family,” she said. “Leaving what I’ve known and loved for the past 26 years is difficult, but I’m excited about working in the College of Business and the opportunities it gives me to grow, expand and use my talents in other ways.” Read more: https://tinyurl.com/4k2kt2vw

In the latest episode of The Bulldog Business Show, Dean Scott Grawe sits down with Vincent Young, Assistant Dean and head of the College of Business Advising Center at Mississippi State University. Vincent shares his inspiring MSU journey, transitioning from a career in industrial and real estate management to becoming a champion for student success in the College of Business.
The episode dives deep into the critical role of academic advisors, who Vincent likens to a "GPS system" for students navigating their educational paths. With an average caseload of 500 students, advisors guide students through tailored academic plans, major changes, and life challenges, offering academic counsel and emotional support. He also highlights the qualities that make an excellent advisor, including altruism, multitasking, and strong communication skills.
Gain insight into the transformative impact of advising, illustrated through powerful student success stories, and learn how the Advising Center fosters a supportive and collaborative environment under Vincent's leadership.
