The official page for the Department of Art at Mississippi State University. The Department of Art is a vital and growing art and design program.
Buildings include Freeman, Stafford, Briscoe, and Howell Hall. The Department has gallery space at 808 University Avenue (Visual Art Center), in McComas Hall, at the Colvard Student Union, and in the Cullis-Wade Depot.

Welcome back, Jamie Runnells!
Runnells returns to lead Department of Art Jamie Runnells, who taught at MSU from 2002-2013, returns after serving a stint as coordinator of Jacksonville State University’s Master of Fine Arts program, where she also held the title of distinguished professor of visual communication.

Senior art major Sarah Demus and recent graduate Sadie “Bella” Brownlee spent the past year adding to a vibrant mural that was begun by Mary Sanders, a 2023 graduate.
