Our community development team traveled to Vicksburg earlier this month for the annual Destination Downtown conference! Project Director Chance McDavid gave a presentation titled “Feeling Overwhelmed? Extend Your Reach Through Effective Volunteer Management.”

Congratulations to our Executive Director, Dr. Dallas Breen, for winning the prestigious Donato J. Pugliese Award at this year's Southeastern Conference for Public Administration! This award is given to a senior SECoPA member who has made contributions to the organization and to the profession of public service.

Dr. Breen was also elected as President-Elect of the organization!

Mississippi State University (all campuses) will cancel all in-person classes and activities Thursday, Sept. 12 due to an abundance of caution over predicted inclement weather due Hurricane Francine. Severe weather conditions are predicted throughout Mississippi. MSU is urging students, faculty and staff to remain weather aware throughout Thursday, Sept. 12.

Monitor weather conditions and exercise caution and good judgment when traveling. Motorists should not drive through unknown patches of standing water and should approach any standing water with caution. For more preparedness information, visit www.emergency.msstate.edu.
