Congrats to Christine for being our GSUSA Gold Award recipients! 💚✨ Christine's heart, vision, and ambition will leave a lasting impact as herGold Award helped created STEM lessons and STEM kits that aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge of Skills for low socioeconomic schools, and educated school aged students (2nd to 6th grade) on career readiness for the STEM field, while teaching STAAR 5th grade TEKS. Read more about her project below!

By partnering with the La Joya Independent School District science coordinator, Christine was able to identify schools in need and provided kits and resources for three schools. These kits and lessons explored the Engineering Design Process and STEM projects while aligning with the TEXAS TEKS. Christine provided one kit for 4 different lessons in the field of STEM to each teacher and Special Ed Teacher for each campus. The kits were assembled by Christine individually and contained enough materials for 25 students. Along with the kits, Christine created power points, handouts, and lesson cycles. Christine also ventured out of the schools and found a local organization that provided after school tutoring and summer programs. Christine was about to teach two of her lessons at the Proyecto Desarrollo Humano community improvement center in Penitas, TX, and train the teachers on staff so that they could implement them in their summer programs. Christine donated kits to the local homeschool COOP and listed her lessons on TeachersPayTeachers.com as a free resource. Christine’s lessons were downloaded 700 times.
