QSL VK9NC, VK9NE & VK9NG ---> "Unfortunately, due to the ongoing serious restrictions on the delivery of letters sent abroad (due to COVID) by Polish Post Office, and the fact that our cards sent to many countries returned with the words 'no delivery' (and stamps cancelled), our manager SP7VC had to resign from sending QSL cards from Poland", Jacek, SP5EAQ (ex VK9NE) says. [08/16/21]   From Southgate Amateur Radio News this morning (08/16/2021) via ARRL
Following earthquake in Haiti, radio amateurs asked to keep frequencies clear
In a statement received by ARRL on August 14, 2021, Region 2 of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU-R2) has requested that radio amateurs in the Americas keep the following frequencies clear to support emergency communications in Haiti following an earthquake this morning: 3750 kHz, 7150 kHz and 14330 kHz. The statement came from IARU-R2 Emergency Coordinator (EMCOR) Carlos Alberto Santamaría González, CO2JC.
According to preliminary information from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on August 14, 2021 at 1229 UTC, about 12 kilometers northeast of Saint-Louis-du-Sud and 33 kilometers to the east-northeast of Les Cayes, Haiti; 18.352 degrees north and 73.4801 degrees west at a depth of 10 km.
Mr. Jean-Robert Gaillard, HH2JR, President of the Radio Club of Haiti, reported significant structural damage.

National Night Out returns Tuesday, August 3rd!

We hope to see you there!

[07/16/21]   Monday July 19 at the Norman P Murray Center in Mission Viejo, at 7pm, testing is at 6pm
This will be our first meeting back at the Murray Center in almost a 18 months.

We will not be having a guest speaker. We prefer to take this opportunity to re-connect with each other and check in with club members.

We will have decaf coffee and snacks AND we will raffle off the Yaesu FT-70. We almost had enough $5 tickets sold at our last in-person meeting to raffle this off. If you bought a ticket for this raffle item, it is still in play. We will also have a number or the $1 raffle prizes as well. You do not need to be present to win the $5 raffle.

Masking is not required; but we do ask that you use your best judgment of whether or not you should.

[06/25/21]   A note from our competition, W6ZE, and Chip Margelli, K7JA,
This weekend, radio amateurs throughout North America will participate in our annual “Field Day” exercise, an event that demonstrates our ability to deploy emergency communications under “abnormal” circumstances. Sponsored by ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio in the USA, it’s partly an emergency drill, partly a chance to try out new antennas and equipment, partly a competition for bragging rights over how many contacts were made, and it’s always an opportunity to learn something new. For me, the day includes loading the 31-foot “ALM-31” mast onto the Escape (thanks, Tim Goeppinger!) as you see in the photo. Antennas and other masts will follow soon. Stay tuned for the adventures and hijinks of the Orange County (CA) Amateur Radio Club! #arrlfd

[06/25/21]   SOARA Members, we start setting up today at Gilleran Park at 3pm. There are restrictions on how many can attend at one time

[06/24/21]   SOARA will be operating on Field Day June 26 and 27 from Gilleran Park in Mission Viejo using the Call K6SOA.

[06/17/21]   SOARA will be hosting Field Day from Friday June 25 until Sunday June 27 at Gilleran Park in Mission Viejo, please see our website at for more details.
