Jay Nuhring House Styling
When I work with your furniture it's not a complete re-do. I use what you have and make it better -
Symmetry can sometimes feel static and predictable. I opened up the space by pushing the sofa to the back wall and adding two accent chairs. I love the addition of the paprika color and splash of greenery on the coffee table. The room feels less stuffy and so much more abundant.
I wrote this post for the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2019. It's fitting with the first few peaks of spring sun we've seen! My tips to freshen your house for spring.

“The human soul is hungry for beauty; we seek it everywhere—in landscape, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion, and in ourselves. When we experience the Beautiful, there is a sense of homecoming.”
A favorite quote from the wonderful book, "Beauty: The Invisible Embrace" by John O'Donohue. Words I live by when choosing art.
Living With Art — Jay Nuhring Living with art means finding pieces that move and inspire you. It's a lifelong journey that elevates your space and life.
Some of the art I've loved for Valentine's Day. The first piece is a favorite from my gallery days—part of the repurposed billboard campaign.
A beautiful room can inspire. Whether you're styling to stay or sell, every detail is part of a story. My goal is to help you tell that story.

It's such a joy and privilege to work with my clients. Nothing beats feedback like this. ❤️
"Each day I’ve been meaning to get back to you to thank you for the thoughtful beautiful work you did in the large front room of my condo.
I find myself going into the room several times per day. I sit on the navy-blue couch where I noticed I have a view of the cathedral. I also sit on the dark gray couch and notice how nicely private it feels at night when reading.
Today the room felt like a lovely dining room and a calm spacious living room.
My daughter came over and plopped herself into the Chestnut color chair and I sat on the couch to chat with her.
I appreciate your expertise and your conscientious work. Thank you."
Simple and abundant vases of flowers inspire. I learned arrangement from my mother, and now I show my clients how easy and stunning everyday flowers can be.

A new rug can make all the difference. The larger graphic rug pulls the room togther and creates a cohesive main floor. I swapped the dining table chairs and restyled the space to make it feel elegant and fresh. So much better and surprisingly affordable.

When's the last time you rearranged your furniture?
I love this type of makeover: simple changes using your beautiful pieces to completely update the look and feel of a space. I transformed this room from dark and a bit gloomy to a bright, inviting space with a few simple changes.
Don't you just want to cozy up to that fireplace?
Sometimes the simplest changes can make a world of difference. Here I added a rich navy blue velvet blanket at the foot of the bed and two accent pillows. Now the bed has your attention and is given the focal point it deserves. Really simple, sweet, and romantic.

Happy Thanksgiving!
With Thanksgiving coming, I have travel on the mind. It's always a joy when a client asks for help with an out of state project, and New York is one of my favorite places to visit. This view from the Chelsea Mercantile buidling in Manhattan is spectacular.
I also had to include a photo of my favorite cocktail from Eataly NYC Flatiron , aptly named after the wonderful island where it was created—Manhattan.
When a buyer is emotionally committed, they start to imagine raising their family. They imagine hosting holidays. They imagine creating memories. Their connection with the home is so great, they feel the home will take care of their basic human needs.
