The perfect little corner for one of the most comfortable chairs ever made. The backdrop of the large windows- stained in a dark color to let the greenery and landscape shine through. arch schultz

Join us in marveling at the site of a beautiful transformation. It looks so simple when we show a few photos but it took 6-8 months of planning and just under a year to complete. Sure is fun to dig up the before shots though and to remind ourselves how much we love the process- and the end results.

Dining in the sky….need we say more about the beautiful richness of the rug anchoring the table or about the textures in the captains chairs or might we mention the gorgeous light fixture? No need- ‘dining in the sky’ is just right!

Once upon a time we embarked on a full house renovation with and Dovetail MN] and the stairs (height difference) and what to do with this corner stumped us momentarily. But the beauty of a great team and lots of design minds around a table rewards with results like this cozy corner for games/homework/coffee/zoom meetings (but preferably not 😉) or just fun family time.

We are sad to say goodbye to Isabelle today but alas- college takes precedence! She has been a complete breath of fresh air and joy for our studio- always bringing s smile and willing to do anything we needed! And don’t let her stature fool you- she schlepped design materials all summer! Good luck Isabelle- California is lucky to have you!

We are delighted to sing about the blues in this beautifully completed home at . We had so much fun picking out every piece with these homeowners- test driving each and every ‘seat’ and selecting each light fixture and pillow fabric. We worked with them for over two years to make their home beautifully reflect them- and indeed it sings!

It is always our pleasure to learn about our clients- their tastes and design goals, their aesthetics and how they want to live in and use a space. Our goal is that the rooms we create reflect our clients.

This beautiful den/lounge/reading space perfectly reveals the fun and colorful personalities of the couple (and their pets) who live there. It’s bright and energetic yet sophisticated and calming- bookcases designed for their reading pleasure and personally collected travel items, a sofa for tv watching and a custom chair for reading- all with views of the Mississippi and carefully curated and styled by MDD. And the best part is that it makes them as happy as it makes us!!

One of the newer trends in multi-family common spaces is to create small work spaces for 1-2 people. They are also known as ‘telephone rooms’. Who wouldn’t want to sit here all day on your phone and enjoy the space? ….Okay, maybe not all day- just a good portion of it! arch

At MDD, one of our goals is to keep our design fresh and current while not getting too trendy. We like design to stand the test of time- at least for many years. We completed this project six years ago and wouldn’t change a thing today!

One of our favorite home renovations just got another refresh. We are so fortunate to have clients that ask us to come back and work with them a 2nd or 3rd time. Adding some new pieces and re-finishing others can make you fall in love with your home all over again.

We have definitely fallen for this home- and their beautiful model dog 🐶

Hot off the press….the most charming little pool house you ever did see!

When spaces are well thought out and designed, they don’t have to be large to function perfectly! Nestled into the backyard of this beautiful home, this small dipping pool and pool house have transformed the summer lives of this family of five. Take a peek inside!

We can find uses for even the tiniest little corners (or dormer as the case may be). A small little table, a mirror, and some beautiful lighting…and you’ve got yourself a makeup vanity with a view. Give it a shot- we promise you’ll love having a place to sit every morning! And as always, a few fresh flowers don’t hurt!

A very teeny sneak peek - heading to Costa Rica again next month to fill up this beauty with all the makings of a home. A three year vision almost ready for the final touches.

This office makes me think of the Abba song ‘Take a Chance’. Some of the best results in design happen when a client gets just outside of their comfort zone. I will honestly admit that when this wallpaper arrived at the office I was a little nervous but my sidekick said it would be fun….and turns out she was right. Also turns out it wasn’t out of the clients’ comfort zone at all 😉.

It doesn’t take much space in your home to create a perfect little office. And…take a chance.

If this little powder room doesn’t make you happy…..and yes, we used two mirrors because we couldn’t resist. Sometimes the right mirror makes the perfect statement- it doesn’t always have to be for function.

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. It’s for weddings- we know - BUT the table is old, the chairs are new, the candlesticks are vintage (stretching the ‘borrowed’ but go with it) and well, you get the blue.

Look around your house for a few old treasures to highlight and then add some fresh flowers for the holiday weekend!

We welcomed Lauren Allis to our studio just over six months ago and are thrilled she came on board. She is both a Design Associate and a Project Manager and has mad skills at both. While attending the U. of M., she had internships at several leading design firms in town and MDD is benefitting from all that she learned during that time. She is our resident DJ with very broad music taste (occasionally slightly too broad 😉). She loves to cook and to entertain and has great party hosting ideas. And, she’s the best aunt in the Twin Cities! We are beyond fortunate Lauren joined our MDD team!

Our favorite part about doing shared spaces is trying to make them feel like they are your own home while keeping them fresh and purposeful. We are pretty excited about the newly completed lobby at The Aubrey.
