Mason Be Making
Mason: An Icon As a young transman, I felt the only way for me to become who I wanted, is to become somebody completely different. https://linktr.ee/magicmodiste
It wasn't until I started dressing how I wanted to represent, that I started to be who I really am. I represent strength, self sufficiency and smarts, but also kindness, love, and cleverness. I am able to show all of that in my style, and that's what I love about it.
Moon from FNAF for Halloween
I had a lot of fun whipping this up, took me about 4 days and a lot of hot glue

A few sweet Atlanta moments

Same conference. Same hotel. Four years apart. 21 vs 25
My oh my have I grown. Still so young, every year since I was 18 I've been saying I didn't think I would make it this far. At first I was upset I didn't get to recreate many pics from 2019, then I realized it's because I spent more time with other young leaders than I spent alone. I've met some of the most talented, beautiful, capable, smart BAD ASS BI***ES EVER through my work. I get older and I freak out about not being young anymore. But I am young, and I'm still growing into someone I don't know yet. It really puts things in perspective to see past versions of myself. And I'm so thankful for the friends I'm making along the way.

I'm doing the costumes for a film!! I came across a fb group post by asking for production people and I offered my costuming skills and WHAMO I'm in the credits!! I'm super hype to work with this team!!! Trailer coming later this month~

I absolutely loved The Playground Experience
instalation by
Put me right in my childhood body back in my uncles house. I was hit with nostalgia in such a specific way, I can hardly discribe past warm and heavy. All the lil details really made this place feel like a real ass HOME. And the tiny wicker chair with the candle holds a special space in my heart and will forever live rent free in my brain. Also real grass?????? Amazing.
performance with instalation by .at.i
A literal Afro futurism dreamscape. The way the projections caught the swaying fabric. The single floating cloud. The ACTUAL tree branch painted red. I felt like I was in 3 different worlds at once. Like I woke up from a dream into another dream.

The way the floor lights were covered with fabric and silicone made for really cool extra depth. The way the fabric pillers created a muses from Hercules type ambiance made for a very playful and ethereal atmosphere. I felt like I was being beckoned in by a siren and I was more than willing to dive in.
Each preformer matched their space so perfectly, it's hard to believe the instalation artists didn't meet the preforming artists until weeks after starting their process. The way the artist were intentionally matched together made for a beautiful and cohesive experience. During the Q&A I said "oohhh it's like a garden of edan and we're all playing in here" I'm not even religious but I really felt that! How else do you discribe a place that feels so real and so dreamy at the same time?
Big big love to for putting this beautiful event together. This is exactly the type of s**t I love to see and I'm honored I got to take part as an audience member. I was extremely immersed and very excited to hear what each artist had to say about their inspiration and process during the Q&A

Me and some of my Justice Consultant team at the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless conference last year.
Excited to share that the Justice Strategic Plan is open for public comment. So please take some time to review and comment on it!! Community is such an important part of this work, and we may have lived expertise but Justice Consultants cant represent everyone! https://mich.mn.gov/public-comment-justice-strategic-plan
I have been working with MICH and my fellow Justice Consultants for a year developing this document. It took a lot of mental and emotional labor, especially from us as people with lived experience, as people who are out here in community all the time. It took a lot of patience and care to work with people in privileged, salaried, government positions. What a trip to be struggling with housing stability and doing this work, especially alongside people who have houses and cars and health insurance.

A Paper Moon by Vinecia Colman - The Moon comes to visit Devyn, a youngster living in the year 2035. Climate change has taken over and indivualism runs rampant. The moon, Lune, comes to offer safety to Devyn. This story is about change, escape, friendship, love and finding where you belong amongst a devistated world,

In 2022 I designed the costumes for the Apple Valley Winter One Act. This play, A Paper Moon, was locally written Vinecia Coleman and directed by Sophie Peyton
I loved every step of the process the whole cast of young people were so great to work with. The whole crew of students and adults worked so hard to put this together. I was absolutely honored that Sophie fought for me to be able to participate in this opportunity. I needed help with transportation between St Paul and Apple Valley, and she reached out to her bosses to make a budget for me. I was also given a budget for materials and separate compensation for my time on top. I got to visit neighboring schools to look through their costume stock and I got a student assistant. It was a a wonderful experience (despite any perfectionist fueled panick attacks I had).
Thank you to everyone that supported me including those beautiful students. Thank you to my Nonnie for giving me rides to the tech rehearsals. Thank you again to Sophie to reaching out to me for this position and fighting for me to get it.
And even with all of this love and pride for this production and the work I put into it, I was still scared and insecure to post about it!! I was afraid that people wouldn't engage. I was afraid of how I would set it up on my page. But honestly I really want to just show you what I've done. So here it is, damn near 2 years later.
I've turned struggling to read complex sentences into a "simplified language skill"
As a part of my work as a Justice Consultant I contribute to making goverment documents, RFPs, training guides -that type of stuff- accessible by advising on what I dont understand about how something is written.
I used to hate myself for not being a fast reader that can understand and retain information easily. I used to wish it was easier for me to understand things that are written with academic language.
Now I pride myself on being someone that can slow a whole process down to advocate for things to be as understanable as possible.
So I think I healed a lil sumsum inside me from this reframe and I feel pretty dope about that

Come celebrate with us! There will be food, activites, childcare, and preview listening session

Absolutely beautiful!!!

Our collective conciousness is effected by how our language changes, and how the way buidlings are constructed reflects those changes. This video gives a great explaination of how architecture and language are connected.
How slow reading can change your brain How does a world of speed and information impact our brains, our culture, and the architecture that supports learning?Want to be a part of producing these vi...
