MSOE Underwater Robotics
This team builds a fully-functional ROV and competes in an international competition to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace.
The underwater robotics team will build a fully-functional Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) that will compete in an international underwater competition sponsored by MATE. The team will be doing their second run at the MATE international competition in approximately 10 minutes! So far things have gone fairly smoothly this year.

Check out the progress the team has made for the H-bridge motor controller! We are moving past the design phase and starting to test it.
One of the students along for the trip did a pretty good job of piloting the ROV. The ROV's onboard cameras weren't ideal for the murky water, but they were more than sufficient for basic piloting and navigation.

A few more photos from the Willie shipwreck dive! Everyone on the team was very excited to apply the ROV to a real situation.

Took the ROV out to the "Willie" shipwreck in Milwaukee. The wreck is about 90ft deep, and over 200 ft long. The ROV worked almost flawlessly for the entire 1.5 hours in the water and took on no water. The only problem was one malfunctioning thruster.
