The Okawa region is one of the oldest and most revered tea farming areas in Hon Yama, Shizuoka. It is surrounded by dense mountain forests, clear air, pure river streams and natural beauty and produces rich, deep tasting, aromatic sencha. The teas from this region make amazing, complex and aromatic cold brew teas. Simply add 9 grams of tea to 1 liter of water and place in the refrigerator for 6 hours or longer.
This year we tasted dozens and dozens of lots and arrived at some amazing selections as we traveled through Kyushu and made our way to Shizuoka. Although many farmers faced agricultural challenges during the early spring, we were able to find top rated Uji tencha and gyokuro. Through the end of May we will have several premium batches of shincha to follow our sold out hand-picked shincha from the Nishi Family’s saemidori and yabukita gardens. We hope you're excited as we are to enjoy these very limited, hyper seasonal and premium Japanese green teas.
