The Moving Galaxy - Yoga and Mindful Movement
We are an inclusive movement space, located on Milwaukee's East Side, rooted in the practice of yoga.

đTHIS WEEKEND AT THE GALAXY AND BEYONDđâ
â
Hey Galaxy, it's Anna. Mostly every time someone asks me to do something on the weekend, the answer is: I can't. I have to run something or other at the studio. Weekends are my workdays, and I'm not complaining, especially because this weekend, I get to watch all these brilliant 300-hour graduate thesis workshops.â
â
HOWEVER. There is a very important protest going on this weekend, in response to some very important and frightening things that have been happening this week. â
â
If you, like me, have feelings about how we welcome and take care of the stranger, you might like to go to these protests. Just saying.â
â
And as a reminder: we welcome anyone through our doors who follows our code of conduct. In return, we promise, as one of our core values and non-negotiables, that we will always welcome the stranger and treat the guest as God.â
â
No Kings, Galaxy. Tat Sat.

â¨ď¸300-HOUR ADVANCED TEACHER TRAINING GRADUATES!â¨ď¸â
â
Hey y'all - it's Anna here. I'm thrilled to see these 7 stellar humans finish up their final requirement - their research thesis papers and corresponding workshops. This weekend, we'll be watching them show off their expert-level knowledge and creativity as they teach us about all the things! Scroll through and look at all of the amazing variety. Also note that there's one super-secret workshop on Friday night that Diana will likely offer for public registration at a later date - that one is special and just for us.â
â
It's been quite a 10-month journey for these teachers, and I'm amazed at the growth and depth they've pursued - and I can't wait to see what comes next for each of them. If you're curious about the 300-hour program, registering for one of these (free) workshops would be a really good way to get the feel and the scope of what we do and what gets created out of this experience.â
â
The link in the comments will take you to our general workshops and events page, where you'll see any that are currently open for registration and have spots available.â

đťJUNE IN THE GALAXY - THE NATURAL WORLD AND TRUE NATURESđť
Hey Galaxy, we're honoring our true natures as we simultaneously honor NATURE this month.
I got a little transcendental as I drove by some early spring trees just absolutely being the most flowery things ever, and it led me to contemplate the stages of life, our sva-dharma, and the process of aging.
One of my favorite photographers of all time took this photo of me: , and it was in one of my favorite places: Humboldt Park in Chicago. Enjoy my face with no bangs.
Oh, and speaking of celebrating true natures: Happy Pride đ
Your Galaxy Dispatch has dropped - check out our Substack or head to the website. Your email will land shortly.
As the Caterpillar says to Alice: "Who are you?"

Hey Galaxy, it's June! June, June, June.
Enjoy this little musical theatre joke, get outside (after some yoga) and keep your eyes peeled for the dispatch, likely dropping into your inboxes tomorrow.

"Our hands imbibe like roots, so I place them on what is beautiful,â
And I fold my hands in prayer, and they draw from the heavensâ
light."â

â
You'll be able to practice diverse styles with some guest teachers this weekend, Galaxy! We've got Kelsey on Friday night, introducing us to Katonah yoga, Mica holding down Saturday morning, and Mary S on Sunday.â
â
Our 200-hour teacher trainees are finishing up their final weekend of the practice immersion, and will begin to learn and practice how to be teachers! â
â
And Anna is popping in for an early Saturday practice where you'll receive light guidance, a good playlist, and lots of room to explore, as we work a group self-guided practice. â
â
Help us finish up chakra month with your radiant energy and join us in the studio this weekend đ

Galaxy, the mat storage and lost and found is absolutely crazy town đŹ
The lost and found is getting cleared out at the end of this week, and we are commencing a mat audit! If there is no label on your mat cubby, it'll get cleared out by Sat 6/7!
Happy Memorial Day, let's go summer! âď¸

đTHIS MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IN THE GALAXY!đâ
â
The jeweled net of Indra is said to suspend across the universe, to infinite reaches. At each crossing point of the net hangs a single glittering jewel. Since the net itself is infinite in dimension, the jewels are infinite in number. The sparkling jewels hang there, suspended in and supported by the net, glittering like stars, dazzling to behold.â
â
You can visualize this net, stretching through infinity, then zoom into one jewel in the net: the surface of that gem reflects the other gems all around it, providing a different perspective, depending on how you look at it, to infinite possibilities. The process of reflection is itself infinite.â
â
Each of us is a jewel in Indra's net, and every jewel is connected, as every person is intimately connected with all the other persons in the universe. Each has an independent place within the net and we all reflect and influence each other. A change in one jewelâor personâproduces a change, however slight, in every other. While this net symbolizes connection, it also symbolizes Shunyata, or emptiness: the infinite reflections speak to the illusory nature of appearances. that are not reality, but only a reflection. The true nature of a thing is not to be captured in its appearance. However powerful that appearance might be, it is yet only a reflection of what is real.â
â
Whatever you do to one jewel affects the entire net, as well as yourself. You cannot damage one strand of a spider web without injuring the entire web, and you cannot damage one strand of the web that is the universe without injuring all others in it, whether that injury is known or unknown to them. This can work for good or ill because, of course, just as destructive acts affect the entire net, so do loving, constructive, compassionate acts affect the entire net. A single helpful actâeven a simple act of kindnessâwill send positive ripples across the infinite net, touching every jewel, every person in existence.â
â
Happy Memorial Day Weekend, Galaxy family. Take care of each other.â

đŞŠGalaxy: it's AnnađŞŠ
When I signed the lease on this studio and painted everything all the colors, and decided I was going to teach at 9 am T-Th, never in my wildest dreams did I think I would sell out those weekday classes. They were basically there for me to teach how and what I wanted to teach in a low-stakes environment. Numbers don't tell the whole story, ever, but I do consider it a low-key win that 28 of you wanted to show up today at 9 am, meditate with your eyes open, hear about the jeweled net of Indra, and engage in a 75-minute practice where I could cue you to open the back of your third eye. These are aspects of the practice that I bring to my classes not because they're popular, but because I like them and I want to share them with you. Thank you for absolutely expanding my mind on what could be considered "popular," and making this space so special.
Let's dangle in the jeweled net of Indra again sometime soon đ

Come join us for a Kundalini Yoga Workshop designed to compliment the astrological energy of the moment. New Moons are traditionally times of building momentum, intention setting, and using your words as wands. Each New moon is filtered by the sign it lands in the sky. Like a giant clock or pie, the planets pass through different zones or zodiac signs which impact us subtly or not-so-subtly. Full Moon tends to carry the energy of a harvest, and New Moons tend to carry the energy of a seed. The seeds we plant can initiate a 4-week cycle, or 6-month cycle. We'll chat about the specific aspects of the Gemini New Moon and enjoy a meditation practice aligned with its themes. You're welcome to bring all your magic (crystals, journals, extra blankets to get cozy, etc.) or just come as you are.â
