Men’s health includes mental health.

Research continues to show that strong social connections and supportive communities can positively impact mental well-being. That’s why spaces where men can gather, learn, share experiences, and support one another are so important.

This Men’s Mental Health Month, check in on a brother, have the conversation, and remember that wellness isn’t something we build alone.

What helps you stay mentally well?

At PHEP, we know improving men’s health takes more than awareness 📣. It takes community, movement, education, and consistent engagement.

That’s why partnerships and programs like Men Moving Forward with MKE Rec matter. Creating spaces where Black men can prioritize their physical health, build connection, and stay informed is a critical part of the work.

Prostate cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among Black men, which is why continuing these conversations and supporting healthier lifestyles is so important.

If you’re looking for a positive space to move your body, connect, and invest in your health, follow up with Men Moving Forward through MKE Rec.

Creating safe spaces for Black men to openly discuss their health is powerful, necessary, and life-changing.

When men feel supported, heard, and informed, conversations around prevention, screening, and overall wellness become easier to have. These moments of dialogue help build trust, strengthen community, and encourage earlier action around prostate health.

This is more than awareness. This is community.

What does a safe space for Black men’s health conversations look like to you?

Too often, men are taught to stay silent about their health. Real strength is having the conversation.

This is what community, brotherhood, and empowerment look like. Creating space for men to speak openly, ask questions, share experiences, and encourage one another around prostate health can help change outcomes for generations to come.

The Health Griots continue to do powerful work by helping provoke these conversations through storytelling, lived experience, and authentic community connection. Having trusted voices and storytellers in these spaces is critical to building awareness, trust, and action around men’s health.

Knowledge leads to action. Conversation leads to awareness. Early detection saves lives.

Tag a brother, father, uncle, mentor, or friend and remind them to stay proactive about their health.

Knowing your risk starts with knowing your options.

Dr. Izard speaks on the importance of understanding PSA screening, advocating for yourself, and having informed conversations with your healthcare provider about prostate cancer.

Too often, men wait until symptoms appear or avoid the conversation altogether. Early detection and education can make a major difference.

Ask questions. Know your family history. Understand your risk. Advocate for your health.

05/11/2026

Knowing your risk is one of the first steps toward protecting your health.

Black men are disproportionately affected by prostate cancer, which is why awareness, education, and early conversations matter. Screening can help detect prostate cancer early, when treatment outcomes are often better.

Talk with your doctor about your personal risk factors, especially if you have a family history of prostate cancer. Start the conversation with the men in your family and encourage one another to stay proactive about your health.

Early detection. Better outcomes.
