📣 We would like to give a shout out to one of our closest partners The Bunny Hutch!! Not only do they have a continental giant rabbit as their mascot🐰, but they have an awesome team who have helped animals of all species, in countless ways.

🫶 We couldn't provide life-saving services to our community's most vulnerable animals without these wonderful friends. With everything from monetary donations, supply donations, and even transporting sick animals who need specialized care, The Bunny Hutch has been a tremendous help.

We know we ask a lot of our community but the work of an animal shelter never stops. So here we are, asking for your help once more. THANK YOU for all you have already done in showing kindness towards the animals we take into our care. We could not do what we do without you.

We have stepped up to take on a large case in the community that involves over 50 medium-sized unsocialized dogs. Over the last week, SRCAS has been working with a homeowner in the community to trap as many dogs as possible to receive a health check, spay/neuter and updated shots.

We are asking for monetary donations to our Partners for Pets fund at www.santarosa.fl.gov/399/Donate-to-the-Shelter to recoup medical costs already spent and help with future medical costs related to this case and others that the shelter assists with. No amount is too small.

These dogs have not had much human contact. This is just the first step in a multi-step process. The next step after spaying/neutering the dogs is to begin behavioral modification with as many as possible so we can get them adopted out into their furever home.

Due to the shelter being over capacity, the dogs will remain with the homeowner and as kennels open up, the dogs will be transitioned to the shelter. Thanks to the tireless work of shelter staff (which includes our awesome Animal Control Officers, who are under Animal Services, that worked through rain, mud and heat to setup, tear down and capture dogs) and partners, over 40 dogs have been spayed/neutered and updated on their shots.

We have been overwhelmed by the community's response after taking in over 70 dogs from a rescue case in Gulf Breeze the week of Feb. 21. Many different shelters, rescues, businesses and individuals responded to a plea for help from the animal shelter.

"We could not have done what we did without all of the support we received and the amazing work of our shelter staff," said Dr. Megan, shelter veterinarian. "We started out with over 70 dogs on Mon., Feb. 21 at the Agriplex in East Milton and by Friday, we were able to move operations back to the animal shelter because almost every dog from the rescue case had found a place in less than a week."

The shelter would also like to thank members of the community and beyond who sent in food and monetary donations. The shelter is fully stocked with dog food and received over $5,000 in donations online.

"The work of an animal shelter never stops," said Dora Thomason, shelter supervisor. "We can't thank everyone enough for the role they played in the shelter's ability to be positive and successful in aiding our customers over the last week, whether they were four-legged or two."

Thursday, July 14- Java was on a walk with a potential adopter but was never brought back to our shelter! We do not have a name of the person who took him, just a description. He was an older Caucasian male with white hair and a white beard. He was wearing a leather jacket/vest and had on a black veteran cap.

There is a reward for whomever returns him safely to our shelter!

"Shio" will be helping where he can too. The Bunny Hutch Boutique (TBH) and CLIMATES-Rescue has deployed for numerous rescues/shelters across the USA since the onset of COVID. We've lent a hand, funds and our Mobil Vet unit when and where it was needed.

Currently we are assisting Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS). SRCAS has recently dealt with several dog hoarding cases. They need your help!

I know we are all scattered across this Great Nation. But, that's what can help. TBH and other non-profits are asking their friends to help get dogs transported via cars, trucks, RVs, campers, etc. from Florida's Panhandle to rescues across the Nation that have room. TBH is creating a "Dogger-Ground Railroad". A group of volunteers willing to donate 100-200 miles of their time to relay dogs 1-2 at a time across the USA.

That's 100-200 miles in any direction from where you live to save a life. No matter if you are into reptiles, dogs, birds, cats, ferrets, etc. Every life whether covered in fur, feathers, skin or scales is precious. Why not help with this simple gesture.

Just got a call from Wildlife Rehabilitators in Mississippi. They had two juvenile Fennec Foxes dumped on them. One male, one female.Their Vet will spay/neuter each, rabies, microchip, provide travel (within reason), health certificates, etc. I'm out of fosters who can take them. But, if course we'll still help! Hopefully we can find an accredited zoo/aquarium close by to take these two.
