Come meet RAY at Santa Rosa County Animal Services in Milton, Florida. He would really love to finally have a place to call home.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule when bringing home a shelter / rescue dog. It normally takes 3 days for the dog to decompress, 3 weeks to start to know your routine & 3 months to start to feel at home. Please give them a chance to adjust to their new routine. They may be a little scared or nervous in their new surroundings so let them have time to adjust to their new life. You will be glad you did.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation to help us put together a Staff Appreciation Lunch at the Shelter for the 23 people who face the day-to-day realities of working in our SRC Animal Shelter. The Surgery Team had to miss the festivities because they were in the middle of operating on a dog that had just been hit by a car, and we hope that everyone from the Kennel Staff to Animal Control knows that our community appreciates the hard work and commitment they all make each and every day. THANK YOU!! 🐶❤️🐱❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Friends of the Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter meeting Thursday night! We thought we’d share some highlights:
1. Coming Soon! Kennel Sponsorship Program where residents can sponsor a kennel with an “In Honor Of”, “Family Sponsorship”, or “Business Sponsorship” sign that will be hung on kennels in the shelter.
2. “Home for the Pawlidays” will take place between December 21/22 and January 3...the goal is to get animals fostered out over the holidays
3. Animal Supply Drive – The Eatery, Pet Nation, P*k Itz, and East Bay Dog Spot will be collecting donations for the shelter through January 1. Items that are needed include Pedigree dry dog food (puppy and adult varieties), harnesses of all sizes, and monetary donations.
4. On December 20th at 10am, we will be putting on a Staff Appreciation Lunch at the shelter! A REALLY great idea for kids is to write Appreciation Christmas Cards for the staff. They work hard taking care of the animals, and they could use your support! 4451 Pine Forest Road, Milton, Fl 32583.
5. Thank you to High Steele Fencing for giving us a discounted rate to complete the Sally Gate where adopters can safely introduce/temp test their dogs to potential adopters, a new gate to prevent dogs from having to walk in front of kennels to be shown to potential adopters, and a new yard outside of the surgery suite for dogs who are recovering from procedures to use the bathroom.
6. We are so fortunate that some of our best members are dog trainers, and they will be offering free public classes very soon! Residents would apply for the free classes, but we are all very excited for this opportunity!
7. We are hoping to raise money for a Mural for the front of the Shelter– maybe adding unique “Adoption Wall Art” where people can post their new family member on social media. The shelter is very sterile looking right now and needs some large improvements, however, we believe a unique mural will encourage adopters to help us all get the word out about the SRC Shelter.
8. We are starting to create Donation Jars for the FOTSRCAS. Let us know if your business is willing to help!
9. We have a phenomenal member who is actively applying for grants for FOTSRCAS. We are waiting to hear if we can purchase a dryer.
10. We all brainstormed ideas for the 2023 calendar. We’d love to hear your best community and fundraising ideas! Here are just a few to get your creativity moving! We will finalize the 2023 calendar at our January meeting.

We are set up today at the Santa Rosa Creek Fest in Milton today with Tootsie, Holiday, and Bronx! Stop by and say “Hi!” if you come by! 🐶🐾🦴

Come out for some fun festivities and meet some of Santa Rosa County Animal Services’s sweet pups! 🐾
We are so excited for Creek Fest! Friends of the Santa Rosa County Animal Shelter will have a table set up and will bring some adoptable pets from the shelter. Come enjoy the festivities and maybe leave with a new best friend!

🐾 The holidays are a special time to spend with those we love, consider opening your home to a temporary pet to enjoy the holidays. The Home for Pawlidays short-term foster program gives our animals a break from the shelter environment and the opportunity to spend the holidays in a loving foster home. Foster homes are also a great opportunity for the shelter to get better insight into the animal's behavior and reduce the number of shelter pets to care for during the holidays.
🐶 🐱 We're looking for loving fosters to bring a pet home for the week of Thanksgiving. Interested in giving one of our shelter pets a break from the shelter? Learn how you can participate in Home for Pawlidays online at www.santarosa.fl.gov/727/Foster-Program

SRCAS IS STILL IN NEED OF MEDIUM & LARGE SIZE DOG HARNESSES, MARTINGALE COLLARS, CLIP LEASHES & SLIP LEADS.
The shelter will be doing a holiday foster home promotion for the dogs very soon. We would like to get as many dogs in a loving foster home for the holidays as possible. Dog harnesses, collars & clip leashes are essential items needed to make that transition successful. Slip leads are great for volunteer dog walkers & staff walking dogs to & from their kennels.
If you would like to donate, it’s as easy as purchasing stuff on SRCAS’s Amazon Wishlist. You can drop it off yourself or have it delivered to the shelter by Amazon. Thank you again for your continued support.
