In a time where everything is measured and everything is scrutinized, this hits home! 💙💛

How do we help our kids in a world built on comparison?

When I was growing up, I didn’t have social media in my face 24/7. I wasn’t checking GameChanger stats after every game. I wasn’t watching highlight reels of kids my age every night before bed. Sure, my parents were competitive, but they wanted me to compete against the game, against my potential—not against everybody else.

Now? Everything is measured. Stats. Rankings. Followers. Commitments. Home runs. Strikeouts. And let’s be honest, half the time those numbers don’t even tell the full story.

One of my favorite quotes has always been: Comparison is the thief of joy.

The minute our kids start measuring their worth against someone else’s highlight reel, they’re already losing a battle that has nothing to do with sports.

There is only one you. There is only one of your kiddo.

Help them understand what makes them special. Help them recognize their gifts instead of obsessing over someone else’s. Teach them how to handle the moments when doubt creeps in. Positive self-talk. Hard work. Accountability. Leaning on teammates. Showing up when it’s hard.

And don’t get me wrong—healthy competition matters.

I want my kids to look at great athletes and think, Damn, they’re good. I need to raise my level.

But that’s very different than looking at someone else’s success and deciding you’re not enough.

The goal isn’t to help our kids avoid comparison completely. The goal is to give them the tools to climb out of it when they fall into it.

Because they will.

And when they do, they need to know that their value was never tied to a stat line, a ranking, a social media post, or what somebody else’s journey looks like.

Their path is theirs.

Let’s help them keep their eyes on it.

This…💯‼️

If your kid isn’t a superstar at 10 years old, stop acting like their future is over.

Youth sports have turned into a race that nobody can even explain. Parents are losing their minds over rankings, trophies, and who hit puberty first, while completely missing the point.

The goal isn’t to build the best 10-year-old.

The goal is to build an athlete that still loves competing at 18.

Some of the toughest, most successful athletes I’ve ever been around weren’t the studs when they were young. They were the kids getting beat. The kids sitting behind someone better. The kids learning how to fight through failure instead of being protected from it.

You know what’s funny? College coaches don’t give a damn who was dominating 10U.

They care about who can handle pressure. Who can be coached. Who shows up when things get hard. Who keeps getting better when everyone else starts making excuses.

Some of you are so obsessed with your kid being “ahead” that you’re burning them out before they even have a chance to figure out how good they can be.

Not every athlete develops at the same speed. Not every kid grows at the same rate. Not every future college player looks like a future college player at 10 years old.

Quit chasing youth sports status symbols.

Quit comparing your kid to every other kid.

Quit treating every weekend tournament like it’s the damn Olympics.

Let them struggle. Let them fail. Let them learn how to earn it.

Because the athletes who make it aren’t usually the ones who were crowned the best at 10.

They’re the ones who were still standing when everyone else got tired of the grind.
