Here's to the remarkable women at AI Engineers! We are so appreciative of you all and thank you for your hard work and dedication. In honor of International Women’s Day as well as Women in Construction Week, join us in celebrating all women who are making a difference and breaking barriers for a better and more equal future for all.
Our team had a great time connecting with peers and attending many interesting seminars at the New York Build Expo 2022 at the NYC Javits Convention Center this week. The NY Build Expo is the largest construction and design show in the tri-state area and virtually covers all opportunities, themes, and conversations related to the construction industry in the residential, commercial, and big infrastructure space.

Currently, we’re assisting the Town of Mamaroneck, NY, on the Valley Stream Road Bridge project. Here, our team is supervising a drilling rig taking cores, which will be useful in preparing the design of the permanent abutments.

In the meantime, a temporary timber bridge has been installed over the existing deck to ensure minimal disruption to traffic.
To cap off our celebration of National Engineers Week, we asked the AIE staff team to share recommendations of inspirational “Must Reads” that have influenced them during their professional journey. Below are the Top 5! We hope you enjoy!

“The Existential Pleasures of Engineering” by Samuel C. Florman

“To Engineer Is Human: The Role of Failure in Successful Design” by Henry Petroski

“Built: The Hidden Stories Behind our Structures” by Roma Agrawal

“Sons of Martha: Civil Engineering Readings in Modern Literature” Compiled by Augustine J. Fredrich

“Women of Steel and Stone: 22 Inspirational Architects, Engineers, and Landscape Designers” by Anna M. Lewis

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) is the premier voice for headquartered businesses in Connecticut whose membership includes thousands of member companies from Large Fortune 500's to Small Mom-and-Pop's. They champion change at the State Capitol, shaping debates about economic competitiveness, and fighting for a better future for all.

Below is a snippet from an interview with our very own Tariq Islam advocating about the need to make the implementation of the Infrastructure Bill at the State Level incorporate using Current & Next Generation Technology Solutions as part of the way forward to tackle public infrastructure projects quicker, drive costs down, and increase efficiency overall.

There are only a few days left of Engineers Week, and today, we’re highlighting this year’s theme: Reimagining the Possible!

At AIE, we believe that implementing technology in innovative ways not only allows engineers to address communities’ challenges with exciting new approaches and perspectives but can also increase productivity while improving safety.

Hear our very own Mike Giacco present at “Tech on the Frontlines: How Drones, Digital Twins and Robots Are Changing Jobsites” at the ENR Top Young Professionals Conference tomorrow, Friday, February 25th.

Learn from real-world findings about adopting cutting-edge technology at jobsites around the U.S., from drones to additive manufacturing, wearable sensors to robotics, 4D planning software to digital twins

In continuing our celebration of National Engineers Week, here’s an everyday example of one of our firm’s many projects that benefit our built environment and ensure safer and more resilient infrastructure for our communities.

Over in Warwick, Rhode Island, AIE bridge inspectors have been providing statewide on-call bridge inspection services and emergency repair designs for Centerville Road Bridge.

The design features a new WT-shape to replace the cutout damaged portion of the existing girder, structural vertical and horizontal splicing between the WT-shape and the existing girder, as well as new diaphragm connections to the girder.

These designs will increase the roadway’s safety, reliability, and access for drivers as well as extend the lifespan of the bridge.

During National Engineers Week, and every other day of the year too, AI Engineers, Inc. seeks to improve life by design, through engineering innovation and forward-thinking problem solving. From on-site UAS inspections and monitoring to artificial intelligence workflows, we push the boundaries of what’s possible to benefit our communities and the infrastructure on which they rely. #
It's Engineers Week and that means celebrating all the incredible engineers around the world who continue to defy the limits of their times, proving that nothing is impossible.

Thank you for reimagining the possible and building a safer, more sustainable world for our communities while inspiring future generations!

Happy Engineers Week!

Currently, we are assisting the Town of Wallingford, CT, by providing a cost-conscious and safety-focused rehabilitation design for the Toelles Road Bridge over the Quinnipiac River.

To ensure minimal disruption to traffic, our design consists of replacing the existing superstructure and maintaining the substructure, allowing construction of the replacement to be completed in a single construction stage with local traffic detoured along a town-approved local route. Additionally, the project also includes utility coordination, survey, wetland flagging, environmental documents, permits, geotechnical analysis, hydrology and hydraulic engineering, and public outreach.

Our team had a wonderful time connecting with everyone at the annual ASHE NY Metro Project of the Year and scholarship award.
