There's still time to register and log reading for this year's Children's Summer Reading Program!

All reading must be logged by AUGUST 20th to qualify for prize packs from the Topsfield Fair!
(Book and toy prizes from the library may be earned and picked up until September 1st.)

Can't make it into the library? Send an email our Children's Collection Development Librarian, Stacey Zubiel ([email protected]) with your child's name, age, rising grade, and how many hours of reading your child has completed so far this summer.
(Honor system and best guess-timates are welcome if they encourage kiddos to spend some time reading this summer.)

Throughout July the Children's Room had a guessing jar full of popsicle sticks! The winners with the closest answers are: Connor C. & Reese L.! They both guessed closest to 217, the total amount of popsicle sticks in the jar. Congratulations!

At Family Game Night tonight we will be debuting out Switch 2! There will also be plenty of fun board games to play if video games aren't your thing. We hope to see you there!

The July challenge to read a book you found at a little free library, tag sale, or used bookstore allowed for lots of flexibility. Pretty much any book would count as long as it was acquired through one of those sources. I can't say I'm surprised to see a Michael Crichton in there. I feel when I go to book sales or used bookstores there's always tons of copies of books by Crichton, Patterson, King, and Connelly.

For August, there's a bit more specificity as to what you're being challenged to read. The challenge is to read a book that could be considered taboo. I think the easy approach to this one is to see which books are frequently the target of bans. However, you could get creative with the word "could" as it's used in the challenge. Is there a book claiming that a bowl of cereal is the best breakfast meal? A devotee of protein-heavy breakfast dishes could find that blasphemous.

Main Duties at the Library: Purchasing, cataloging, maintaining, and curating all Children's Materials at the Flint Public Library. I also plan and run our Summer Reading Program for Children.

August is right around the corner! And with it comes a new set of teen programs. This month we'll be having a Paint & Sip, S'mores Fluff making, Henna for Teens & Tweens, Real World Ready (ages 16+), Movies & Munchies Night for Teens, and a Teen Game Night.
