i don’t miss the lies
the inadequacies
the feeling lost
worthless
not enough
barely enough

not quite what he wanted
correction —what he might have wanted physically
though everything he needed

the awkwardness
the tension
the trying to fix me

the proving i did love him
the proving i’d go to hell and back just to try and rescue him
and i did

the proving i would die for him
did i miss proving that

that i’d die for him

i don’t miss the not knowing what i missed
what could i have done better

or not done

maybe that was leaving sooner
maybe leaving sooner was it

or maybe having never come out to meet him
that had to be it

sweet words can be like honey
and heal wounds

broken words
they can be reminders

holy too
