💙 Before the first day of school... remember this.

The start of a new school year can bring excitement, hope... and sometimes a little anxiety.

If your child has an IEP or 504 Plan, remember that you don't have to know everything on day one.

Ask questions.

Communicate with your child's teachers.

Celebrate the small victories.

And don't be afraid to speak up when something doesn't feel right.

The best school teams aren't built by one person; they're built when parents and educators work together with one shared goal: helping your child succeed.

As a special education advocate—and a mom who's been there—I want you to know that your voice matters, your questions matter, and your child matters.

❤️ Wishing every family a wonderful start to the new school year. I'm cheering you on every step of the way.

Save this post as a reminder for those first few weeks of school and share it with another parent who may need a little encouragement.

🐐🐇 Today's petting zoo brought smiles to so many children—but it also reminded me why I love being part of this community.

While families enjoyed the animals, I had the opportunity to meet a dad who had questions about his child's education. We talked about his concerns, the support his child may need, and the next steps available to his family.

Moments like these remind me that advocacy doesn't always happen in a conference room. Sometimes it begins with a simple conversation at a community event.

A heartfelt thank you to Elton and the incredible STARS Miami team for all of the hard work, planning, and care you put into creating these experiences for families throughout the summer. Your dedication creates opportunities not only for children to have fun, but also for parents to find support, ask questions, and build connections.

It has truly been an honor partnering with you this summer.

If you have questions about your child's IEP, 504 Plan, ADHD, autism, or special education services, I'm always here to help.

💙 Sometimes one conversation is all it takes to help a family move forward.

The start of a new school year can bring excitement—but it can also bring questions and uncertainty.

Taking a few minutes to review your child's IEP or 504 Plan, connect with the school, and watch how those first few weeks unfold can make a big difference.

Remember, you don't have to wait until there's a problem to ask questions. Being proactive helps build a stronger partnership with your child's school and gives your child the best possible start.

📌 Save this checklist so you can come back to it before the first day of school.

💬 Which step is usually the hardest for you? Let me know in the comments!

Is your child struggling in school?

Not every child who struggles needs special education—but every child who struggles deserves to be understood.

Sometimes, parents notice the signs long before anyone at school does. If your child is working hard but not making progress, having difficulty following directions, or dreading school, it may be time to ask more questions.

One of the most important things you can do is request an evaluation in writing. That simple step can begin the process of identifying your child's educational needs and the supports they may be entitled to receive.

Remember, you don't have to navigate this journey alone.

💬 Have you ever wondered if your child should be evaluated? I'd love to hear your questions in the comments or send me a DM.

When my daughter was first diagnosed with autism and ADHD, I entered a world I knew nothing about.

I didn't understand IEPs, evaluations, or special education. Like so many parents, I felt overwhelmed and uncertain about how to help my child.

That journey changed my life.

It not only taught me how to advocate for my daughter—it inspired me to become a Special Education Advocate so I could help other families navigate the same path.

If you're just beginning this journey, I want you to know this:

You don't have to figure it out alone.

💙 I'd love to hear from you.
