Dear Reader – On to Mother’s Day!

Easter has come and gone and we’re truly on our way into spring!

Well, I’ve seen some pics of snow here and there, but it’s melting quickly. And, of course, it’s something that when I’m home, I don’t deal with at all. They say it snowed here once during my lifetime, but I must have blinked and missed it.

We did, however, have one night when at two A.M. it pitched down to thirty-four degrees Fahrenheit. For Miamians . . . well, practically an ice storm!

And out now, A Cruise to Die For!

Now a strange bit on that! I had handed the book into Mira and found out that I was going to be speaking on a Trans-Atlantic voyage! Well, since I grew up in Miami, I went on dozens of cruises as a kid, and then again, I’ve been off on many as an adult, a few of them writer’s cruises. I know the Caribbean well. But crossing the Atlantic is different! Truly gave me new respect for those long-ago voyagers who sailed the ocean blue before air-conditioned cabins, great dining halls . . . and food that sat in barrels for time on end!

But today . . . we’re moving on to Mother’s Day. Like many holidays, while comparatively new in the USA, it’s another holiday that was celebrated back in ancient times, though differently, of course! But Mother’s Day was equally a celebration of spring but observed for goddesses of birth and fertility.

Mother's Day

Mothers! They give birth, they adopt children, and they also “mother” children of friends and family and sometimes, those they just meet who need help. Sometimes, men act as moms when they’re needed. As in ancient times, “mothering” has to do with nurturing and helping young ones who need nurturing and help!

In this story, Jackson has a fantastic day planned for Angela. But as usually happens on their best-laid plans for an occasion, things go very strangely awry.

And yet . . .

With a little help from a caring spirit, it might switch everything around!

At any rate, I hope you’ll enjoy it! And for all moms, for all who give as moms give, women and men, friends and relatives . . .

Have a great Mother’s Day!
